Serious question to all the Mordekaiser mains making threads out there.

I know you guys may hate me for this, but does it really bother you that much that morde is getting his title changed? Like I understand the rework, but the title...? Riot could call Zed "Dark Puppet Man", and I probably wouldn't care... Not sure how a title change can bother you so much.

Because it goes to show just how little they care about us who love the champion. We got a shitty rework that messed with his core themes and made him even more toxic and now they even try to justify his new scrappy vfx with a shitty title.

They've been spitting in our faces the moment they assured us he'd be the same but bulkier and with more consistent damage.

Its pretty much the final nail in the coffin for mordes metal theme.

Imagine if Annie suddenly used water magic or if Cassiopeia suddenly spat fire instead of poison.

It'd be more like if they changed zed's title to "the Z"

The changes should have just been a different character if CertainlyTerrible wanted AP/AD guy who only can be in a lane with another person, or they only get 2 abilities.

I am not a Mordekaiser main, but I am certainly opposed to the title change, even without considering their recent modifications to Morde's gameplay. There are plenty of people, including myself, who develop strong connections to the lore of Runeterra and choose champions largely based on their lore and thematics. They may not be a majority of the player base, but they are passionate because of their investment in the world. Think comic book nerds or the kids you knew in school who always had a novel to read in their free moments.

I'm sure you would understand if people were upset by Harry Potter's scar being made into a skull instead of a lightning bolt or Peter Jackson deciding that hobbits should actually be tall, since those changes would strongly impact the nature of the stories and characters of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings universes. Changing champion lore, including titles, art, VOs, and things like that, have the same impact on lore fans because of our investment in the characters of Runeterra. Even seemingly small things like title changes can indicate that a character has undergone a fundamental change and will likely move more in that direction in the future. This is why title changes can be so concerning, especially in a character who is likely to receive major lore updates in the near future.

Mordekaiser translated is Lord of Death, having 'Lord of Death' be his name and title is lazy ans stupid.

He needs a title change for sure, Master of Metal doesnt fit him anymore. While Lord of Death isnt the worst, they are better options.
