@Jaredan, I'm very interested to hear what management decisions led to the Lore Retcon.

The old lore was leading all champs into a corner where one of four situations happened with any champ:

-Champ is weaker, so they go to the League to prove their strength or to become stronger

-Champ is of moderate power, and they go to the League for political reasons or they are persuaded to

-Champ is of dangerous power, and are either captured or join willingly to get even more power

-Champ is a mystery, and is still a mystery.

This became really evident around Nami's release, where she all but abandoned her quest to save her species because some summoners were like "ya let us find it for you babe". The retcon, while executed poorly in the beginning, was a good move that may have saved the lore from getting stuck in the rut of "X champ does cool things/has aspirations/is big and scary and joined the league because they can/they want to/they must."

the old lore was like a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament so the bad management of the old lore led to the retcon
