The name "League of Legends"

So this is just a bit of a thought I had about the name of the game and the game itself at this point in time. With all the changes to the lore would it not make sense to make the name of the game make sense too? (Does that make sense? hehe) > In all seriousness though, No. There is no reason for Riot to change the name. I just like the thought craft.)

League of Legends. During the ye olde days when there was a League that governed why champions fought each-other. Summoners of the Institute of War would summon champions of the League of Legends to fight on Summoners Rift. (It was a simpler time, I know.)

Back to my point of the name of the game. Here are some ideas of some different names that I feel could be used.

Though not necessarily a changed name, but rather a new meaning 'League' as a unit of measurement (3 nautical miles) of Legends makes sense right? Could we say that The Rift is about that distance?
