Riot's Explanation on Mordekaiser Changes

The explanation on Morde starts at 10:23 and it on lasts about a minute so just go watch that first.

Back? Okay.

So basically, between the Patch notes and the Patch Rundown "explanations" what I've gleaned from Riot's stance on Morde is this:

"We tried to make him a tanky bruiser, but it was boring and not fun (interestingly, if you check out the thread on their original proposed changes -http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/5dmaUVNs-mordekaiser-54-changes - many boards posters essentially predicted this) so instead of that we put some new functionality on his Creeping Death and rearranged some stats on his Ult and called it a day."

Obviously they intend to keep working on Morde, so I'm not attempting to throw up some "RITO DOESN'T CARE WTF F*** THEM" post here. But I hope that they understand that some of the frustration (in fact most of it, as far as I'm concerned) around these changes is the lack of context and adequate explanation on them.

Why has his health regen been slashed by over half its original value?

The Creeping Death change is INCREDIBLY situational - you and your ally must be moving towards each other in order for the speed boost to actually occur, and you can't deal double damage to a target by having both shielded allies standing together.

Don't get me wrong - being able to use the shield on an ally and gain its effects is a nice QoL buff, but it hardly seems to be anything majorly game changing to his play pattern.

I'm also a little curious why his Q and W got tweaked but his E, which is easily his most important spell for early laning and wave clear, was left untouched. The reduced base health regen is going to make this spell VERY punishing to use in the early game, which hurts his laning a good deal.

I'm not trying to sensationalize or anything, I just want Riot to give us a clearer understanding of what these changes are designed to accomplish and what tentative plans they have for continuing to iterate this champion in the future. So far the line we've gotten from them is just "we couldn't find a satisfying way to rework him, so we didn't." In that case, why change him at all?
