Two "Viking" Champs?

Are Tryndamere and Olaf both "Viking" type champs?

And if so, isn't that repetitious? Isn't there usually just one of each archetype?

They both wear what looks like "Viking" type helmets and they both have Ults that are based on rage; they both have some invulnerability, high melee damage, and shouting mechanic....

Why?

Yeah overall the 2 could use a bit more distinction. Tryndamere is pretty much supposed to be the barbarian hero(think of conan the barbarian,or pretty much every barbarian class in an rpg),while Olaf is the actual viking Though Trynda does look pretty viking-like,so I guess this might actually change a bit if he gets an eventual VGU

To make matters worse, they are also both berserkers. Though I'd argue that Tryndamere might be THE rage-champion of the game. Sure there are other champs who have a ragebar,or who get into a battlefrenzy, but none of them focus this much on rage as a theme as Tryndamere.

Tryndamere is a barbarian not a viking, his helmet might look similar with that style but its not the same

Yeah, I think once Riot gets around to giving these two their full VGUs they'll look to make them a lot more distinct than they currently are, both gameplay wise and thematically. That could mean taking away the "viking" thematic completely from one of them, or maybe just making the two very different kinds of vikings, which could also work (Quinn and Teemo for example are both League's scouts but look and feel quite different).

I will say though that unlike Olaf, Tryndamere is more of a tribal barbarian/arctic warrior than a seafaring viking.
