Anyone Else Dissapointed With The New Ryze VO?

I don't like the new VO for a few reasons.

First, it sounds so different from old Ryze that it doesn't feel like the same character. It sounds a little like Steve Blum, who I think is great, but it doesn't feel like Ryze. It doesn't seem to fit the way he looked before or the way he looks now either.

I also don't like some of his lines. I think Riot went too far in trying to justify Ryze coming across as a jerk. They did a lot of telling rather than showing in this regard with lines like these: "If I sound rude, it's because I've got a world to save. I care about these mortals. That's why I keep them at arm's length. Everyone wants to chat when you're busy saving the world. Ah, civilization. I remember when I was a part of it. All this would be so much easier if I didn't give a damn." I feel like these kind of beat me over the head with the whole 'he's a jerk because he has to stay out of society for its own safety' idea. I prefer the more subtle approach, like the lines Jhin has that reveal his obsession tortures him and that he wants to die. Ryze has some of these, but their effect is weakened by these super blunt lines.

To top it off, he comes across as WAY less of a jerk to the person playing him than he used to, which defeats the purpose of telling us why he's such a jerk in the first place. His line "Let's go, let's go!" was such a regular occurrence previously and was a key part of him coming across the way he did. To me it was an essential part of the Ryze experience. Now it's just 1 of 5 potential lines when he ults... :( He was impatient, gruff, and didn't care about your feelings. Now he just feels emo, like if he doesn't stop talking about the fact that we're on the brink of a cataclysm it will suddenly happen. And yet, listening to him I feel none of the gravity of our impending doom. I just want to tell him "yeah yeah, we get it, world coming to an end, blah blah."

I do love his new gameplay and the way he looks and feels moving around, attacking, and casting spells. That stuff is awesome! But I was really looking forward to a grumpy asshole telling me to hurry up. Instead I got a whiny, emo, poet wannabe.
