[PETITION] We want VO updates too

Okay, i'll keep it short. We have all the champion updates that comes up with new Vo too, that's great, as it gives us more personality on that champion, more itneraction and a bit of lore here and there.

But for the love of humanity, update the older champions too!

EXAMPLE: Maokai got a model update and a gameplay update over the months, but he still speaks like the old ways, with the personality of a dead rat.

another example? Kassadin, same story as maokai, btu still no new Voice on him. He makes a joke that doesn't make anysense right now couse he lost his silence...

we could go on, in general, i would like to know if it's possible to update the voices of our beloved champions.

Something to take away from both Kassadin and Maokai; they got two updates each, with some time between them. This was because they did what they knew was possible with the resources at hand. Making a VO requires them to do the following (Not in this order):

Get voice actors in to see how they sound and if they can pull off the voice they want
Write the VO lines
Choose the appropriate actor and record them doing the lines, which they may need multiple takes for
Add any effects to the voice
Do that all again in over 15 languages

I'm not disputing that having more VO on EVERYONE would be great, I want it too! But unlike every other part of a champion the voice has to be dealt with on a global scale, where as everything else is done in the states, around Riot's offices.

tl;dr doing the VO for anything in game takes way more resources relative to what is needed for models, rigging, animating, vfx, textures, etc.

Listing out the requirement is a typical method to make things look seemingly difficult. For example:

Killing a Teemo requires one to do the following (Not in this order):

Get Teemo low health to prepare for the kill
Get your skills CD ready
Choose the appropriate timing to gank and have JGer's help, which they may need multiple takes for
Spam any skills on Teemo
Do that again in 5 minutes if Teemo burns his flash

Sounds very difficult. Teemo is OP. Or not.

Those procedures aren't really hard if have ever tried dubbing a movie yourself. I tried it when I was making a video for a project. I even did the post-production part to add effects and reduce noises. It's not that hard.

Did you know some regions use the original voices, so they don't have to redo it in their languages? Also, did you know VO in other languages are done by the agent companies, not Riot?

Remember that Anivia and Ashe got voice updates when the Lore event happened. I'm sure more stuff like this is going to happen when future big lore events occur.

The greatest taunt as well as the simplest. It gives a sense of dread, of fear, due to the calm voice it's portrayed with. It tells the whole of the story, no more and no less. The cool calculation implied by the wording as well as its efficiency shows how quickly and easily he already has your death planned out, and how mercilessly he will execute it. In short, it should inspire terror in the masses.

I agree, kind of suprised Caitlyn didn't get a voiceover update when Jinx came out. Would have been a perfect time to do so with adding interactions between Jinx or Vi. Maybe even Jayce?

Overall they already said that VO-updates are not out of question,but that they consider the looks&gameplay of a champ take priority over VO,so they concentrate on these.

However I'd also like it if they expanded the VO of some champs.

A VO that I'm not really sure I want is Cho'Gath. His current voice fits him quite well and, when he gets his eventual update, his new voice should still hold that demonic feeling.

I want new recalls for new champion models, but not everything is gonna be my way (or yours). Some things take time, and they will release new VOs at the proper time.

Also saying that old Maokai had a personality of a dead rat really doesnt bode well for the old lore which most regulars on the boards put on a pedestal for...reasons.

Teemo is getting a VU, the Omega Squad skin gives us a small window at how he will look like and who his new voice actor is. (because the old no longer works for Riot)

All the new VUs that have new VO have tons of quotes, so rest assured they wont do it half assed for someone special to the game as Teemo.

This is because VO is a very time consuming and expensive process for us (just the nature of it, not a bad thing), so if we're going through all of the trouble to do a champs VO we would likely put some gameplay or visual changes in at the same time.

Doing VOs alone doesn't seem to be worth the effort.They're more likely to happen with visual/gameplay updates.Which means for champs who already had their visual/gameplay updates,they're most likely stuck with their old VO for at least a few more years.

I recall Ashe getting two sets of VO updates. One when she got her Visual Update, and the other during the Freljord event. So anything is possible if the right situation presents itself.

But the thing is that those VOs came with something else (a visual update for one & a narrative based event for the other).The chances of VO updates by itself happening are still pretty low.

Well yeah. Because of the reasons that Sharjo mentioned. And I also believe that a lot of VO updates come with events, so champions that did not get VOs but have only gotten model updates will eventually get some in specific events revolving them and other related champions (its easier to coordinate recordings in that way and to set up some neat character interactions).

We just have to wait and see. Nothing is set in stone and we may get some VOs alone randomly during patches.

They only do VO updates when they do full VUs. The MTUs that Maokai and Kass got are a much smaller scale that they don't require that much of a change.

Do people not realize that Riot is a company that charges nothing essential for their game and needs money to operate? Not every idea is feasible for them to do. Not to mention the global scale they operate on.

TL;DR Riot wants paid in candy, but life's unfair.

There should be champions that could be just a model changer, but also has a VO. Like Greybeard Veigar should sound like Gandalf or Dumbledoor, not some little 5 year old.
