[PETITION] We want VO updates too

Okay, i'll keep it short. We have all the champion updates that comes up with new Vo too, that's great, as it gives us more personality on that champion, more itneraction and a bit of lore here and there.

But for the love of humanity, update the older champions too!

EXAMPLE: Maokai got a model update and a gameplay update over the months, but he still speaks like the old ways, with the personality of a dead rat.

another example? Kassadin, same story as maokai, btu still no new Voice on him. He makes a joke that doesn't make anysense right now couse he lost his silence...

we could go on, in general, i would like to know if it's possible to update the voices of our beloved champions.

Something to take away from both Kassadin and Maokai; they got two updates each, with some time between them. This was because they did what they knew was possible with the resources at hand. Making a VO requires them to do the following (Not in this order):

Get voice actors in to see how they sound and if they can pull off the voice they want
Write the VO lines
Choose the appropriate actor and record them doing the lines, which they may need multiple takes for
Add any effects to the voice
Do that all again in over 15 languages

I'm not disputing that having more VO on EVERYONE would be great, I want it too! But unlike every other part of a champion the voice has to be dealt with on a global scale, where as everything else is done in the states, around Riot's offices.

tl;dr doing the VO for anything in game takes way more resources relative to what is needed for models, rigging, animating, vfx, textures, etc.

Remember that Anivia and Ashe got voice updates when the Lore event happened. I'm sure more stuff like this is going to happen when future big lore events occur.

(Don't respond with stuff like "kek what lore amirite?")

I agree, kind of suprised Caitlyn didn't get a voiceover update when Jinx came out. Would have been a perfect time to do so with adding interactions between Jinx or Vi. Maybe even Jayce?

Overall they already said that VO-updates are not out of question,but that they consider the looks&gameplay of a champ take priority over VO,so they concentrate on these.

However I'd also like it if they expanded the VO of some champs.

A VO that I'm not really sure I want is Cho'Gath. His current voice fits him quite well and, when he gets his eventual update, his new voice should still hold that demonic feeling.

Do people not realize that Riot is a company that charges nothing essential for their game and needs money to operate? Not every idea is feasible for them to do. Not to mention the global scale they operate on.

TL;DR Riot wants paid in candy, but life's unfair.

There should be champions that could be just a model changer, but also has a VO. Like Greybeard Veigar should sound like Gandalf or Dumbledoor, not some little 5 year old.

I want new recalls for new champion models, but not everything is gonna be my way (or yours). Some things take time, and they will release new VOs at the proper time.

Also saying that old Maokai had a personality of a dead rat really doesnt bode well for the old lore which most regulars on the boards put on a pedestal for...reasons.

It's definitely possible, but I would say it's highly unlikely. This is because VO is a very time consuming and expensive process for us (just the nature of it, not a bad thing), so if we're going through all of the trouble to do a champs VO we would likely put some gameplay or visual changes in at the same time.

Doing VOs alone doesn't seem to be worth the effort.They're more likely to happen with visual/gameplay updates.Which means for champs who already had their visual/gameplay updates,they're most likely stuck with their old VO for at least a few more years.

They only do VO updates when they do full VUs. The MTUs that Maokai and Kass got are a much smaller scale that they don't require that much of a change.
