Void infiltration into Runeterra.

The entrance of Rek'sai into League lore has brought kind of an interesting look at the void infiltration. Previously most of our contact with The Void has been specific characters with an active role in infiltration. There have been hints of lower levels of "troop", or even varying motives(consumption with Cho and Kog vs studying with Vel'koz). But Rek'sai and even more specifically the xer'sai in general bring on another facet.

The Xer'sai(I'm not sure whether to capitalize that) have basically insinuated themselves into the ecology of Shurima. They are now a part of that region. And not an uncommon part(in the deeper reaches anyways) from what the lore explains. It makes me wonder how far this goes and if there are other subtle or not so subtle invasions at the ecological level in Runeterra. Or perhaps small outposts of Void taken areas.

It reminds me somewhat of the Chtorr series by David Gerrold if anyone has ever read that.

I think that most void creatures are pretty much just doing their own thing regardless of the others. Cho'gath seems so far to be the only one who might stand above his instincts and I'd say he is the only one who could actively work on bringing the void to runeterra(however since most of his lore is non-canon currently,he is kind of a wild card)

The question is however if the void itself isn't some sort of sentient being? What if the individual void creatures are actually more like individual cells or organs of a greater being that transcends our imagination?

The Watchers were probably Void as well

Wouldn't even be surprised if Bard is Void related and the floating cities were Icathia before he caused them to be consumed. He might even be the voice that guided Malzahar.

Chtorr, yesssssssssss.

I mostly believe in the notion that the Void is not invading, per se, but unintentionally infesting Runeterra, like a case of cosmic fleas from one reality to another.

I dunno, it sounds pretty legit, and I'd love to hear more about the void.

I'm not really sure if the Voidborn are working together or not. There seems to be some sort of loose hierarchy, but their motives differ and the lore isn't really consistent. Malzahar and Kassadin both speak of the Void coming to Runeterra, ie an invasion. Cho'Gath is here simply to consume, Kha'Zix to evolve, Kog'Maw also to consume, and Vel'Koz to learn. Were they sent by some ruler, or are they here on their own accord? Maybe they're just probes to determine the strength of Valoran? How did Rek'Sai and the Xer'Sai even get to Valoran? They have probably been there for a long, long time, but they have no motive as they're not intelligent beings, they just happened to come through.
