Do you like the direction riot went with the latest champs?

I'm not talking about their skill set, but about the way they carry themselves, their voice lines and general attitude as it is perceived ingame.

This is highly subjective, so keep in mind that opinions will vary greatly.

Personally, the new champs (Kayn, Xayah, Rakan) feel a bit shallow to me. Riot seems to want to appeal to their youngest audience with teeny and/or one dimensional characters. Which is fine I guess, but they lack the personal depth and maturity which are needed to make them worth investing into. A lot of the recent voice lines, which personify the champ for a great deal, are borderline cliché or just plain ridiculous.

Riot has proven that they are capable of creating interesting characters which have enough history and enough complexity in their personality to make them stand out as their own man/woman. I hope they remember that.

To be clear: I'm not against the creation of champs as described above. LoL thrives on a greatly varying cast anyways. This is meant as a friendly reflection/discussion.

They are certain stereotypes that the game/ lore was missing and I think they were all executed almost perfectly.

We haven't had champions like Xayah, Rakan or Kayn in the game before, they have unique characters and fill their niche.

They've gotten more and more obnoxious which is annoying.

Well you say that Kayn doesn't have much history or complexity to him,but I'd like to know on what that is based. Because so far we didn't get his lore.

And I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by his VO. When I saw Kayn I expected him to be some generic killer who acts cocky all the time.

But for example his quotes against Shen imply that he does deeply respect Shen,even though Shen is the mortal enemy of his master. This shows already that there is more to Kayn than it seems. Not necessarily much,but at least more.

I hate the latest champ designs. They're going for lazy, generic anime now.

Yeah I think that Jhin and Kindred were both amazing examples of how champions should be done

I feel like last year's releases were all stellar (Jhin, Aurelion, Taliyah, Kled, Ivern, Camille), but I agree that Xayah, Rakan, and now Kayn do feel a bit more shallow.

That being said, Xayah and Rakan have some great dialogue, and I love their personalities, even if their purpose seems a bit muddy and aimless. Kayn is likewise fun to play, but he doesn't have much of the personality that you'd hope for. He is generically anime with "Ah need 2b da bestest so shaddup evil sword" and he's pretty lackluster and "edgy" just to look badass. Even Yasuo has more personality than this guy, and he's just as much an anime trope.
