@Riot, if roughly 20% of the skins in the game were reduced to gray models...

... would you leave them like that for 8 months? Because that's what it feels like happened to lore. About 20% of the characters have two to four sentences, a monochromatic story, with the vague impression that more might come "Soon(tm)", which was about when Azir was released.

Oh, but of course. Skins effect the bottom line, while lore is only a drain on resources. Then why leave us hanging? Let the other boot drop and delete the other 80%. I'm sure an intern could write two to four sentences about what they see in the splash art and you'd be done.

IF lore does matter to Riot Games, it feels like there's a lot of explaining to do. Fair to say, "technical issues" that turned skins into gray models would have been resolved before leaving the PBE. You certainly wouldn't have pushed that patch to live without fixing it, and they certainly wouldn't have stayed that way for eight months. Yet on the lore side, broken content was pushed to live and has stayed just as broken for all these patches. At best, it's a managerial blunder that's caused this, and at worse complete not caring about your game. Which is it?

Then comes that random person who says "Your opinion on the matter will not resolve anything and may only come as either a minor annoyance to some forum goers or as 'proof' that Rito is wrong to others."

Either way, 8 months of this pretty much means, complaining will only waste breath and time. Legitimately, either we complain all day believing Riot will NEVER fix it, or sit quiet waiting to see if it actually happens. I mean, you can complain and then say "Yes, what I said did matter cause they fixed it." But then...1 year of your complaints, mixed with others, and Riot explaining themselves over a thousand times is pretty insignificant on the individual level.

TLDR;

We get it. Riot needs to work on their stuff. Calm down and play League.

Well to be fair, people have spent a lot of money on skins and technically no single person has spent a dime on lore. Skins have an intrinsic value, so to keep their integrity as a company Riot would have to respond immediately to any bug or error with a skin.

You can't really place a hard value on lore. People can say they bought a skin because they liked a champion's lore, but externally they're just paying for an in game model and a splash art. It's like buying a microwave because you like the brand, and then the brand of microwave you bought suddenly does something politically incorrect. Maybe you're now embarassed for the microwave you have, but it's still a microwave.

Of course! They would even sell those skins in a "Gray Pack" with 20% discount.
