And equal sexualization among genders doesn't necessarily make it right. And I am not against sexualization necessarily, the only problem is when people in real life take it as something they should do, like constantly harassing a woman and finding it comical. I personally don't see it as a bad thing, as in to encourage or celebrate sexuality. The ancient Greeks and Romans didn't see it as a bad thing either. Sure time's changed, and many of the things they think was great (like orgy), is now socially rejected. But being proud of one's body is at least something we should all learn from them.

As I've said, as long as the sexualisation is equal and makes sense (ie not going overboard or doing it without sense), there is imo nothing particularly needing complaints of with sexualisation.

I walked in on my colleges "Anime Club" because they always get pizza and I wanted some and the show they were watching was a culinary anime. 1 minute into it, it turns completely sexual with emphasized breasts and moaning.

There's animes like Kill La Kill that straight up mock the over sexualization that happens in anime.

Hell, even something as innocent sounding and looking as Fairy Tail is, itkept going back to gawking at the main characters tits and body every other second.

Actually, Kill la Kill is often misunderstood. While it could be interpreted as a satire at the titties in anime, but the message actually the opposite, in a way.

The message is actually about growing self-esteem and self-acceptance. Why is that relevant? I'll explain.

Cloths are used as a metaphor for many things in that title, the first is rules, the second is peer pressure, and the third is self-hate. They say people wear cloths because they are forced to by others in power as a means to insert dominance in some way, people wear cloths because they want to fit in or be recognised as part of the community in some way, and people wear cloths because they're ashamed of their nude body so they cover it in some way. The series' extreme amount of skin exposure and radical outfit designs (on the main cast) serves as a purpose of forcing the audience into being appalled by their display at first, before coming into the conclusion that "hey, you know what, I just don't care, they're great".

This is why the characters make less mention of their wear as the series goes on as the protagonist complains less about her outrageous outfit, and people's clothing gets more and more exposed (can be seen from the cloths belonging to the "Student Council" as each stage of their new outfit evolves, they wear less than before. This is emphasised when they do the timeline comparison in Opening 2). This is also why at the very end of the finale, everyone becomes temporarily naked before going back to their normal lives. Since then, cloths are worn as an expression of themselves, and not as a way to cover themselves. And message achieved.

It's not about telling everyone to go naked, but it's about raising awareness of understanding and respecting different people's self expression, and not going against somebody just because their expression is different to yours, or in your eyes is labelled as wrong.

So the message is actually the opposite, it's not mocking titties, it's encouraging it, as long as there is a meaning behind it.

Sure there are many people who just watch anime to gawk like them flashing shit and some titles are made solely to heed that demand, but that doesn't mean all skins are bad skins. Only the bad skins are bad skins, if you get what I mean.

Not to mention my response was more of a joke, but I do find this an interesting discussion because most of my friends don't watch anime and I watch a fairly limited amount and generally stay to horror/monster type stuff which doesn't often have much sexualization and if there is, it's usually as a catalyst of some shock horror.

But really, opinions are cool. But still, I would advocate not avoiding titles solely because of the potential skins, for the reasons elaborated above.

And really, the titles entirely about fulfilling the desires to see them tits are like junk food, there is nothing wrong with having some of it as long as you don't have it regularly as your meals.
