@Riot, When WIll You Start Developing Lore For Runeterra Again? How Has The World Developed Lately?

I'm tired of retcons, champion release lore, and filler lore. It's about time players heard about what is actually happening in Runeterra in the present.

Seriously, despite the new champions and the god-aweful reworks, it feels like nothing has actually happened there in years.

Excluding back-story retcons/installments, when was the last time Runeterra actually developed?

It's been so long, that it seems like Riot is currently trying to develop Runeterra in statsis, where champions exist during different times and don't interact or have any impact on story.

I'm still hoping that Runeterra will have a story, rather that just a bunch of loosely related champions with back-stories.

Riot, when will we start hearing about development in Runeterra again?

I'm still miffed about the Freljord event. "Hey fans! You get to decide the fate of the north!" * Lissandra Wins * * Nothing happens afterwards *

I just want to learn more about daily life in Runeterra. Rek'Sai's release lore is a nice example, even going so far as to display interaction between nations.

The lore will continue whenever Riot fires Opeli.

You're not. You just aren't going to hear anything else from them. I know, it sucks, I hate it too. But Riot is just not releasing new material on any sort of schedule.

I assume they Riot as a company lacks any kind of personal accountability in releasing products smoothly and efficiently. Glassdoor accounts from previous Riot employees doesn't make working there seem like a fun, happy, or spiritually-fulfilling place.

I have a theory that has to do with the arrival of Bard and his preview video. A lot of people are claiming Bard is replacing the IoW and in a way he does. As shown in the video Bard doesn't care about individual lives only the survival of Runeterra as a whole. It's guessed that the video was the "conclusion" of the Ionia Vs Noxus war, but it's not really concluded now is it? Bard simply warped away whatever it is the Noxian army wanted but the two oppositions are still at war.

That orb could be ridiculously powerful in the right hands. The old man simply let go of it and it cut a mountain in half. Imagine that power in the hands of a really powerful evil mage. It could potentially have enough power to wipe out all existence on Runeterra.

And all the events that have been canon since the recon are leading up to what could be a massive war. We have Frejlord in the middle of a civil war with the rise of the Ice Witch happening behind the scenes. I am pretty sure Liss wants to bring the Watchers back too and the Watchers and Liss want to cover the world in ice.

Shurima has risen and Azir wants to rebuild his empire and no doubt want to make it even bigger than before. He could want to invade surrounding areas and add it to his land, and mind you he is an Ascended (I think?)

And now Noxus and Ionia are still at war. Maybe Bard is going to have interfere some more and he is possibly stopped, maybe captured, who knows.

It's probably nothing like this though tbh haha.

How was the world developed before the retcon? We had large chunks of Valoran unexplored and those that we did know about was very limited. Heck we didnt even have maps, MAPS! The new direction they are taking is great, but slow as hell.

To me it seems that the Lore team is probably like 3 people who don't just do Lore.

AKA, they do it when they feel like. Stories don't sell in this game, so Riot doesn't care about throwing them out late, if at all. Apparently they want a Smash Bros - esque world where everyone's here at the same time and they don't want you to question why they're here to begin with.

Didn't the Ascension story line tie champions and the world together? It revealed the backstory to Shurima, explained how Nasus, Renekton, Xerath and Azir are in the present times, and tied some "modern" champions (Sivir and Cassiopeia) to the regions story arc.
