My wife had seen the new teaser image on Twitter -

But not looking closely at who posted the tweet, she read the silhouette as that of Reinhardt, one of Overwatch's signature heros -

I thought it looked like Reinhardt's silhouette too when I saw it. I highly doubt Riot's artists have been in a bubble since Overwatch was released, which begs the question why they didn't try and alter the crown more.

Morde's side horns curve, Reinhardt's don't. Morde also doesn't strike me as the kind to strike the hands-on-hips super hero pose.

That's part of why I'm drawn to him. Sadly his most effective tactic is constantly keeping his shield up and feels rather detrimental when trying to charge or attack people (because I die and my team lacks my shield).

I know it's hard to be melee in a ranged game, but Reinhardt is just a bit frustrating. It's why I ended up maiming Roadhog.

Honestly I feel it'd be dumb to try that hard to avoid similarities. Reinhardt isn't in LoL,so why should they care? I mean of course they won't make a champion that is a ripoff of reinhardt(so no power-armor knight with a hammer,shield and charge attack),but something as small as a crown/helmet with 3 spikes on the head doesn't need to be avoided.

In game, you're completely right.

Out of game, on social media, this image is suppose to make you think "League of Legends" and get you excited for whatever's being teased. If people see your image and think of a game many consider to be your competitor, you did something wrong.

In that case Blizzard should avoid using only a silhouette of Roadhog, adding something like his pig icon to enforce it being him. While there's probably some other big guy with a hook and a pig icon somewhere, it's not a prominent figure in one of their competitors games.

Riot is showing a silhouette that's not recognizable in League but is recognizable from their competitors game. That's the problem here.

It's not like it's unheard of for wings to get added with skins. Winged Hussar Xin Zhao is a perfect example of this, even though he has wings in game you still read his silhouette as Xin Zhao.

The focus of the image isn't on the wings, it's on the figure in front of the wings. That figure resembles a prominent hero in a prominent game more so than it resembles any hero in League of Legends. That's why I think it's a bad teaser image.

Yeah, we're all guessing it's Galio, but seriously? When did Galio get bigger than Malphite?

But Reinhardt has an art style to back up him being drawn as a giant: the propaganda style art used off and on in posters and what not in Overwatch.

No League character has that to fall back on, which would mean if we're judging this by size it's Cho'gath, Malphite, or A. Sol, none of whom fit the silhouette remotely as close.
