As far as I was concerned, Summoners were people essentially with the power to control the minds of the "champions." That is how we, the summoners, are able to control what they do, etc, in game. Isn't this what summoners are?
Yeah but that was the old canon.
It's kind of hilarious when one of the horrendously outdated champions refers to the player as Summoner. Riot created such a mess when they nixed Summoners from the lore.
"It made no sense for these characters to be bound by human control! That's why we made a cosmic star-forging dragon god that's bound by human control!"
