Honestly I can't understand why Ahri got it? The skin and artwork is beautiful yes but Ahri has a Popstar skin already, so why would anyone buy the original over this new one? It seems like a waste, especially when this skin could have been given to a champion like LeBlanc instead.

Since they are said to be based around the group blackpink its guessed that they probably got to choose which champions.
K/DA has a song called "Oh My God" and it features Ahri.
So what we have in Odyssey canon (because it is the Odyssey universe that shows Kayne's favorite song being OMG) is that Ahri is a pop star, and she decided to make a guess appearance and feature in another group's song.
So, at the very least, they have a "story"-esque explanation on why Ahri got two skins that is centered around music (I say music and not popstar cause both skins have two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TONES)
Why would LeBlanc be in a pop band?
Ahri has a total of 8 skins. No matter how popular a champ is, I don't feel like a SECOND skin for a pop related subject was necessary. You had an excellent opportunity to rework her popstar skin visuals or give a less loved champ a skin. Say Quinn, Sivir, Katarina, Zoe, etc. You don't need to give another one to Ahri. She's already snarky and overconfident to begin with as a character, I don't thin anyone needs more reason to hate the fox.
