You are in the sub-forum. You obviously love the story and art that is the world of Runeterra. Now coming to you is the ability to live, and explore, in this epic story.

Introduction

Traverse the Shadow Isles, get lost in Piltover, or seek an audience with the Prince of Demacia in his palace. Choose a heritage, and a land to hail from - so that you can further the ambitions of Noxus, defend your Ionian way of life... or play billiards in Demacia, the only first world land in the place, and they have very few real problems.

In this epic adventure you can choose to aspire to the Arena. You can play politics and warfare. If you choose, you can seek quiet solitude in Piltover to become an inventor or sail the seas as a merchant vessel. Runeterra is yours!

Game Overview:

  • Leveling System is skill based. Upon selecting a fundamental class and heritage, your decisions and skill choices will determine where you end up.
  • Zoned PVP and Warfare
  • Arena Tournaments for In Game prizes.
  • Characters are NOT Faction bound... but those who leave their faction become flagged for open world PVP (against original faction) for one month.

On a serious note... it'd be cool.

Cinematics by: Blizzard Games

Riot makes pretty good cinematics though.

Indeed! However Blizzard has more resources. The combination of Riot doing QA over it...

Hmm well i wouldn't count out Riot on their resources. While a Blizzard cinematic would be epic, it wouldn't have the feel that League has. Riot has created a really nice and unique style which IMO is way better than Blizzard's.

What cool original thing would a League MMO introduce?

See, the thing about MMORPGs is that everyone who plays them is already committed to one, so you have to steal them with something so new and good and unique that they'll all ditch WoW and flock over.

What do you have in mind?

JustaNewb2 votes

For a game like this, the originality would be inherent... examples:

  • AO was the last truly skill based system... it STILL has a few million followers over just that, and it's almost 20 years old.
  • Invention System | the Inventor classes would be able to make both unique items, and at higher tiers build machinery.
  • Mix of Sword/Sorcery and Tech. This is unique.
  • Classless leveling system... which is hard for game designers to understand is extremely popular. (Most games are cookie cutter versions of Everquest)

Classless systems are almost impossible to balance in MMO, thats why game designers avoid them.

JustaNewb1 votes

Apparently League is also impossible to balance, which means it will ultimately be okay.

League is balanced around being unbalanced.

The playable characters should be male/female summoner (depending on your choice) with many customization options like neko ears, tails etc and option to buy other unique outfits at the ingame store

Nah man... i'd be trying to survive honestly... Nearly everything outside of Noxus or Demacia is dangerous.

Noxus isn't dangerous? Dude, are we talking about the same world?

It is a well functioning nation. Even the citizens under the mongol empire were relatively safe.

I think as a hyperthetical RPG set within League could be cool, especially gameplay wise. But I feel like an MMO would really screw with continuity or the entire lore in general.

A hell of a lot of things you should be able to do or types of interactions you could have with champions within a MMO wouldnt make any sense. The whole thing would probably do a lot more damage than good. But if the setting of some kind of RPG was extremely limiting in scale then maybe it could be pulled off. Otherwise a fan-made table top sounds more compelling.

I am not sure that I agree here...

There are plenty of open-ended story lines that are constantly floating around League. Various Wars, unexplained backstories, etcetera etcetera. There are a few thousand quests worth of material simply floating around without even giving it much thought.

You can be sent on missions by Swain, Garen, Jarvan, and basically almost every champion in League is a leader from their home. Those who are not cast as the important members in their societies, also tend to have interesting backstories that can open into other content... Such as nasus.

The game does not have to revolve around murdering gods and demigods, and really that cliche has gotten worn out. It began with EverQuest, and World of Warcraft kept it going. Many other highly successful MMORPGs over the years have neatly avoided that conflict. When you are not trying to fight gods and Dragons you discover a whole world of stuff to do. Lacking some world ending conflict, you do not have to change the overarching storyline that League of Legends would share. New Champions and story being added to League of Legends then gets updated into the MMORPG.

This would also give League of Legends far more continuity to their story, and it would also allow for actual Cannon.

The thought of an mmo has been brought up so many times. I wish Korea could have gotten Riot and not Tencent. Korea is the king of MMO's. I don't think Riot knows what the potential is. They only came up with a board game.

JustaNewb1 votes

That would be because the designers happily ignore the writers of RIOT.

Open world, adventure, blah blah blah.

I want to be a Voidspawn beet farmer.
