What I think:
-Riot has seriously dropped the ball since the Frejlord event, which pre-dated the retcon announcement if I recall correctly. Changing characters wholesale (Trundle), adding characters that have little impact to the world (Lissandra and Shurima champs) despite their perceived power (seriously, a kingdom rises from the sand and not a damn thing you can build from that!?).
-Many new champs feel as if their lore isn't thought through, and some reworked champs don't feel any "better" for doing so (Trist's voice update sounds cool, but loses almost everything else imo)
-The game, in terms of writing, has become little better than a poor attempt at making a MOBA variant of Smash Bros (which it failed to do by a large margin)
What I expected:
-Since the retcon, I assumed there would be periodic updates as to what's happening in the lore. Rioters would come in and field many questions, from the major hiccups to minor thoughts, and give the community things to talk about.
-While Riot has started this, I assumed since the release of Spirit Udyr's comic that there could be regular releases of lore through alternative methods, while not forgetting the damn lore text in-client and the website.
-I expected a cohesion of story and game, which was what existed before the retcon. No summoners nor League of Legends? Fine. But give me a damn reason why there's a map called "Summoner's Rift" which warps champions inside. Give me a reason why hated rivals wouldn't go at each other's throats if they were on the same team.
What I want:
-Champions that have good lore releases like Braum, or in the case of champion re-releases, Sion. They don't need Legend of Korra-esque quality animations to promote them that gives more questions than answers. It needs good writing, plain and simple.
-To add up on that, that writing needs to be seen. I've seen snippets on what Azir's full lore would look like, but I don't think it counts if it hasn't been placed on the client or the website. Why do I have to dig through forums for stuff like that? Why do I need to look at outside sources to find it? I shouldn't have to, and it looks bad when you have such content on hand that you can't release properly.
-Regular updates. I'm patient. If you have something big you want to hold on to, I don't need to see it until it's done. Just don't expect me to twiddle my thumbs with nothing to look at. Provide some bits and pieces of lore when you can; Talk about the items used in-game and the story behind their creation, maybe talk about the possible lore behind each champion skin (I keep hearing about skin lore, so if that's a thing, I'd like to see it. If not, it's something to look at imo), or anything else that shows the world of Runeterra is growing.
-Communication. The sticky at the top of the page is months old, asking about what champs people want to see more and know more about. There's been bits of discussion here and there from them, and a bit has been productive. But the long periods of silence has to end. I don't think it's part of the job description as a member of Lore (or is it "Narrative"?) to put in hours on the forums here, but it helps keeps us interested in what's going on. If that can return, that would be great.
