Shadow Isles: Ruined Part one of Four I Guess

I was looking through some of the lore, and have found, that there is nothing concrete on the Ruined King.

I find that to be totally crap.

So, Instead of waiting for Riot to release a lore dump on him, and why the Shadow Isles are as they are, I decided to write my own version.

Enjoy, if I got anything glaring wrong, please say so,

King of all of the Blessed Isles, Christiani Erano sat at the top of his fortress, surveying the destruction of his Realm. The Iro plague had ended not a week earlier, and his daughter with it. Erano’s daughter had died, his pride and joy, heir to the kingdom he had made. And the King was lost in grief.     He sat there that day, contemplating life, and his daughter. He had loved her, and she had been one of the strongest people he knew, and yet she was dead. She had taken a battle against the Iro, and had lost. The King still didn’t know whether the pain of loss or having to watch her was worse.     Christiani was a tall man, imposing. He was lean and muscled, to be expected from someone who had spent their life in constant warfare. He had conquered almost all of the Blessed Isles before he was twenty five, and had solicited control by the time he was thirty. His black hair whipped in the wind that is natural on the tallest towers.     But the thing most people would first notice about him, and truthfully, be unnerved by, was his eyes. His eyes were red. Like the fires of Hell itself. Many said that he had it because he was a demon, or because he had sold his soul to a Higher Being years ago.     He had done none of those things, yet his eyes were still red, and still unnerved people.     So he sat there that day, when His High council came in. The four people that were the People he trusted the most, more than anyone else. Kalista, Hecarim, Locon, and Mordekaiser.     Kalista was his link to the troops. She, as a common born soldier, reported to him on his army and their thoughts on everything, be it the weather, or a potential coup. Not a spy, but a link. One that would give him the mood of the soldiers. Although she was fairly high ranking among the military, seconded only to Hecarim.     Hecarim was much like the King. Tall, lean and muscled. He was the general of the Blessed Isles Military. He was a genius when it came to strategy and tactics, and as far as actual combat went. Erano shuddered just thinking about it. Hecarim led the forces from the front, and as such, had a very high standing with the common man. He had gained his position as general not because of any honorable lineage, but because he had reinvented the cavalry from the ground up, and had made it the terror of the Kingdom. Entire Wars had been won by that cavalry, and Erano suspected that they would continue to.     Then there was Locon. He was a bearded man, and he was the Advisor in times of peace. He advised Christiani on all sorts of things. How to deal with agricultural problems, or how to prepare for an oncoming storm. He was the most helpful of all of them, and he had the King's ear.     But Mordekaiser. Well, Mordekaiser was a special case. He came from a long line of royal officials, and was in a position that was not becoming of him. He was the official adviser to the King, in both peace and war. But he was not happy. Even Christiani could see that. His adviser wanted more to his life, and had visions of Grandeur. But the thing about Mordekaiser, was that he was a genius. Some of the King’s most successful decrees had stemmed from him. Yet none were the wiser.     “My liege,” Mordekaiser said as he bowed deeply, “We are here to talk.”     The King had suspected as such. This talk was most likely overdue. “Very well Morde, get on with it.”     But it was Locon who spoke. “My lord, the Iro plague has finished, and while there is much cause for merriment, there is still much sadness and insecurity in the Kingdom. Many will take this time as an opportunity to launch an attack-”     Mordekaiser cut in. “What my colleague is trying to Eulogize is the matter of an heir to the throne. Or rather, the lack of one.”     Hecarim added, “We are sworn to protect you Sire, but in order to secure your safety without an heir, we are forced to dedicate many resources to keeping you alive. Resources that are not entirely happy with being used in that way.”     “So this is what you come to tell me? That I need to father a child? Tell me, all of you, do you think that I enjoy my predicament?” The Erano shook with Anger. “Do you think that I am not well aware of the fact that I am heirless?” He then got very quiet. “I am here because my daughter has died. The person I cared most about in this world is lost. There is not another heir that would compare to her.”     The others were silent. Christiani stared at all of them, Kalista, the silent one, Hecarim, the one who cared, Locon, a worrier who would see the worst in any situation, and Mordekaiser, whose black eyes seemed as if they could stare into his soul.     “Goddammit.” Was the only thing the King could say, as his trusted led him back inside.

Hecarim War Journal

This is the first time in a while I have had the luxury of writing in my own rooms. For the last few months since we last came home from conquering Iro and their plague broke out, I have been rushing around the city, trying to help where I could. Generally very little, but it made me feel better for helping.     The King does need an heir, I will say that. But it is not as desperate as Mordekaiser puts it. The chance of Christiani being assassinated is very small. We have pushed out nearly every major threat on these isles. Except for the Far East. But they are largely uncivilized, and any attempt at his life would be largely unsuccessful.     But I have my doubts about Morde. He seems to be trying to move the court to his own ideals. I have do not however, have any doubts that he would love to sit on the throne. That much is clear, and the only person who seems not to see it is Christiani.     But regarding the others? Kalista is my good friend, we are oathsworn in battle, and enjoy many a laugh outside it. She is a fierce warrior, and utterly loyal. There is no one I would rather have by my side.     And Locon is a worrier. He sees the worst possible situation in anything. I suppose he is constantly trying to prove his worth to the King.     That is all I have for now.

Journal of the Betrayer

I do not dare put my name on this Journal. If one of the others of the court finds it, they will know who it is. But if a commoner finds it, well, it should save my identity. For this is a treasonous journal.     In its pages, I fully intend to write of the downfall of his Majesty, lord Christiani Erano. How I hate that name. When I am King, I shall erase it from existence.     However, this opportunity will be the perfect time for me to seize the throne. But how? I cannot do it directly, people will suspect that.     I need something discrete.     I will search the ancient tomes for information.

King’s Diary

I am sad. I am mad with grief.     My daughter has been dead for well over three weeks now, and I still find myself waiting for her laugh when I tell a joke with my court.     It never comes.     I would do anything to bring her back. If it meant sacrificing the kingdom I would.     Anything.     At some point I know the pain will lessen, but it will not be soon.     I thank Mordekaiser for his concern over the state of things. He is a good friend and an even better adviser. I could not ask for a better one.     This has been a long road for me. I inherited the throne when I was twenty. I inherited a weak kingdom with a crappy military. I went through and reworked my officers. I made it based on skill, not heritage.     That was when I met Hecarim and Kalista. They helped me turn this Kingdom into the only real power on the Blessed Isles. We have made ambitious drunken plans to conquer more. But I find that unlikely. I am happy with what I have. I met my wife less than a year after my crusades started. My daughter was born when I was twenty four. She is now gone. After only fifteen years of life. I would do anything to bring her back. Anything.

Journal of The Betrayer I have a plan. Dear god I have a plan.

The King was holding court. It was an affair that would eventually solve the problem of the King having an heir. Many courtiers had brought forth a solution that day. Most of them worthless, revolving around the King marrying again. He said he had no interest in such. He would never love anyone like he had loved the Queen, and she was dead. And then Mordekaiser stepped forward. “Yes Morde? Do you have anything worth my time?” Morde smiled, and said simply, “I have a way my liege. A way to secure an heir, a way to bring your daughter back, all of it.”

So there it is. I plan to release more of these, this is just the first part, as seen in the title. Comments and questions are encouraged.

The Ruined King actually came to the Blessed Isles from a kingdom on the continent of Valoran. He, as well as Hecarim, Kalista, and Mordekaiser, are not actually from the Blessed Isles.

Mordekaiser's lore already has his background established as well, you should go take a look at it. He certainly wasn't calling anyone "liege" ;)

Other than the obvious lore mistakes, would anyone want to see a story version of the lore? Or does anyone care?
