PSA: Asking for Reports Does Nothing

Just a minor thing I see a fair amount on the PB boards, is the asking for Reports syndrome.

To clarify everything, one report flags a game for review, further reports upon a single player are worthless.

1 Report = 9 Reports

It continues to baffle me that people don't seem to grasp this.

for 2 reasons.

  1. riot is HORRIBLE at telling people that it doesnt actually do anything, and in order to know that its against the rules. you have to either get punished for it, or read the boards.

  2. simply put. people dont trust riot. it all started with them taking away the tribunal and replacing it with an automated system. and then saying "we will bring it back" it's been over 3 years. and only recently have we gotten any news. had they just said "we're scrapping the tribunal" they would have been better off

TBH, as much as I like Riot's policies on Player Behavior, they do suck at communicating with us about what is reportable.

I suppose that is what the tos is for, but.......

No one reads that.

not trusting riot

smart move honestly

I don't know what they expect me to do either. If I see an enemy running down mid with +5 boots and zeal then I'm naturally going to report him, you don't have to tell me in all chat every 2 minutes. Likewise, I'm not going to report an enemy for flaming if he didn't do it in the all chat. I can't judge what I don't see.

People should realize that begging for reports counts as bullying and by doing so they suddenly did an offense themselves.

What if you're trying to get yourself reported, though?

0 reports != 9 reports. You'll need somebody else to help, and it never hurts to ask nicely.

I mean, uh...

You can even be reported for asking for reports

Solidarius1 votes

... how does this even make sense?

If 9 people report someone then it is worth far more than 1 person especially since they "review" the game and some people do type "comments" I think its also easier to see if someone has a personal vendetta or there was a real issue...

I very rarely report people that are "toxic" i just mute them and let it be, but certain types such as extreme racism or hate+ telling me or someone else to kill themselves/ and or intentional feeding/afk I will report and ask people to report them.

how the fuk can you be reported for asking for reports are you high?

General Esdeath 2 votes

That's the rules. Riot views it as toxic. Since your report is all that's needed, why should you be asked for reports?

You can see it here in the replies: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/k0tL1els-in-the-context-of-asking-for-reports

fuk the rules, id love to see the day where I get reported for typing "please report "X" because they told me to kill myself" because that honestly happened to me a few days ago.

I read the post and understand but I view it as BS also I have always assumed that riot has a system in place where more reports= higher on the list... Or I am wrong about this also?

General Esdeath 1 votes

Nope, all reports warrant a review and investigation into the person.

Solidarius1 votes

yes i get this but how are reports seen?... there must be a list or is it simply viewed by "time"... your telling there is no order?

for example: do "afk" reports land higher on the list than "INT" reports or are they all the same...

its hard to believe "all reports warrant a review and investigation into the person" thats sounds like a textbook answer from rito or mabey im just paranoid

General Esdeath 1 votes

Well if I recall correctly there's different systems, like the LeaverBuster just instantly knows and counts how often you afk. Int and toxic reports go to a live person and/or chat checking bot.
