What is it? Big, crazy, insane and a doctor?

Zoli Ben·2/19/2019, 1:45:50 PM·7 votes·4,053 views

NOT!

Well, you can argue, of course! I am talking about DrMundo!

The Madman of Zaun, the Jack the Ripper of the League, former Jekyll and Hyde like character has had major lore changes, but there are things that always remained about this guy.

His purple skin, meat cleaver, ripped jacket, goofiness, big muscles and masochism while healing from pain. This guy is terrifyingly strong. He earnt his title fair and square, but as we all know it, he is among the highest candidates for a full VGU, on Sion Galio scale.

I am making this thread to ask of you, how do you see this guy? What is essential to his character in any aspect you can think of that must be kept?

His sillyness.

Personally?

I'd take a few steps back and ask myself what we should really want from a Mundo VGU.

He went through quite a few iterations, from literally being a Hyde/Jekyll clone, to being an actual Chembaron, to his new mutant baby lore, there needs to be ONE direction to isolate and build him with that idea in mind.

Currently only extreme innate regeneration and hideous appearance are very core to Mundo, with him being a Doctor, or at least thinking he is, taking somewhat of a backseat.

So, to rework Mundo one should first try to isolate THREE main thematic pillars to build his VGU on.

Im not sure what a Mundo rework should look like. I certainly don't know what I want until the Riot gives it to me (reminiscing over the awesomeness of Shotgun-knees!).

I happen to think they need revise the whole champion and replace him with another of the same name because he's essentially a rip off of the Hulk and there's not much of a base to work with off that. So im open-minded for significant changes. Strip his core identity down and start from scratch I say! I don't think much that's truly important will be lost out of this extremely dated champion.

I will say that they could build his identity entirely around the health regen angle. if he takes enough damage have him actually lose flesh, but if he gets the health back he could regrow it, maybe taking too much damage would reduce his MS or AS, or something.

Edit: oh great. Then MM goes and says essentially the same thing as I while typing this comment.

I miss when Zaun was full of mad scientist champions that went too far for the sake of their field of research. It gave Zaun a really cool feeling of being a grimdark futuristic city where the words "immoral" and "unethical" had little to no meaning and that really made it a great foil for Piltover. Zaun was my favorite city-state of Runeterra for years until everything that made it cool was tossed away and Riot just turned it into Piltover's shit bin.

I don't know what I want from Dr. Mundo's kit or anything, you can leave that stuff to the guys who one-trick and main him. All I want is my mad scientist back.

I think, he should be Singed's science pal who was as twisted and evil as Singed is, but also got envious of Singed's research on immortality and human body modification. He developed a solution which gave insta regeneration and, after injecting it, he started using not only captive test subjects, but himself for experiments.

He wanted to be able to shout his name from the top of the scientific world! He wanted people to remember his name with reverance, make it a synonym of the new era!

However, as he started getting madder and madder, while he continued to change physically. Soon, he became the thing we know now and that thing is obsessed with two things: dissecting, pain and new shiny syringes to poke into himself and feel his regenerative power respond.

_I have to give the boy credit where it is due. He indeed made his name known in every part of Zaun _ Singed

first of all he's gonna need a bodysuite, then we'll take any reference of drug abuse away because that's a big nono. The tongue has to go as that makes him look like a dumbass and we can't have that, this ain't the goofy movie. As he used to wear a ripped jacket his body suit can be ripped in tactically chosen places as to not lose the pg 13 rating and still please anyone who wants to thirst over a big muscular hunk.

He can keep his cleaver though. it's gotta be mundo after all.

GreenLore2/20/2019, 1:05:08 PM1 votes

I actually feel like his new lore nailed him pretty well.

He is an insane serial killer who believes himself to be a doctor that cures people by throwing meat cleavers into their faces.

And his new lore even adds some possibilities for further development of his character, like his origin or maybe the fact that he actually tries to help people, so he could end up on either side in a conflict.

I mean lets face it, Mundo is a pretty funny character and the community loves him for being this dumb funny madman. He should definitely not be played serious if he ever gets a VGU.

Yet one of the characters that needs it the least. I don't want him to get Disney-fied like what they did to Nunu. Nor does he need 3000 passives on every ability to satisfy all the kids with ADHD who STILL won't play him even after the rework. He's simple and straightforward; exactly as he should be.

I liked him more when he was a brilliant scientist/doctor warped by his own experiments, rather than the mentally simple purple boi they've made his lore reflect in recent years. His most recent story was "ooh, squishy bleedy thing!" rather than any agency as the leading scientist/doctor in the field of pain.

Most important above all is that he goes where he pleases.

I got really mad when the recent particle update removed the blood from his cleaver making it look toxic/poisonous. I think they recently re-added it? I'm not sure, I haven't really played too much League recently.

He basically is Mr. Hide and Mr. Hide squared.

Ebonmaw Dragon2/19/2019, 8:19:50 PM1 votes

I acutally believe that he should be a Doctor, because GUESS WHAT?

He is NOT a real doctor... for now.

My love for Mundo comes from my old TF2 days. I feel like Mundo has a lot of similarities with the TF2 Pyro. Both are homocidal, delusional and goofy and I really like that appeal. Aside from that my favourite thing about Mundo is that he does what he wants and you can't stop him. A fed Mundo can focus an enemy Inhibitor with the whole enemy team fighting him and then just walk away. Mundo goes where he pleases.

He is silly, he is Terrifying he is the underdog of leagueDrMundo

Everyone does his job better, he falls off a cliff past the 30m mark in terms of usefullness and hes countered by either a 800g item or one of the core mage items that they build anyways.

Last time he was even considered a champion was when Adc's were so trash they put their marksmen mains on him toplane

When considering buffs for champions in 9.3 they considered him for a brief second before tossing him aside. Last time they "buffed him" they gave 3 nerfs right after eachother

To main him to me is a handicap i put on myself, i hate maining whatever is popular.

To die to mundo is admitting "This guy walked up to me and bashed my head in"

Mundo cant do any flashy plays, the most impressive thing ive done is a 3v1 when i was angry we had a ragaquitter.

Mundo is the Money Man! Hes the Horror movie monster whos taking your turret while you're hitting him. Mundo cant carry you the game, hes a walking Training dummy with 1 projectile But he can make you laugh while the enemy team tries to kill you... He can make people mad that hes just facetaking them

Please just give his Q substain backDrMundo
