There's one spell that's core to the champion, and another spell that helps land that ability more effectively, or just straight up increase the potency of the ability. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing.

Electro5222 votesHaving a straightforward kit doesn't mean it's bad. Look at Sejuani. I'd say her kit is pretty simple, yet she's one of the most heavily contested junglers in the LCS.....at the moment at least.

Her W is a pretty mediocre ability, considering that it's really only ever most useful in waveclearing or when used in conjunction with her Q. Other than that, its only use is to proc Spellthief's.
Being a straightforward champion isn't a bad thing. Not every champion needs a nuanced kit that has levels of complexity to master them. The problem with current Morg's complexity is that it's only about hitting her Q and being good at threading the needle/predicting enemy movement. And timing Black Shield on top of allies to clutch block crucial CC. Other than that, she's pretty shallow when it comes to mastery. Her ult isn't really something clutch as it needs time to stun and even then, Zhonya's, Stopwatch and Ingenious Hunter Domination mastery make Morgana a pretty frequent ult + Zhonya user, which is what her combo is reliant on anyway.
She isn't bad in a gameplay sense but it's just that she's rather unfulfilling at times to play.

As far as i recall when Reav3 talked about it, Morg and Kayle would likely be a part of a duo "rework/update". It wasn't really a confirmation of one that was going to happen, it was just talk about which champions (according to him) should be on the list.
And as far as i recall, GU update for Morg and VGU for Kayle? I don't remember if this was discussed or not but i would've imagined something along these lines.
Oleandervine1 votesI remember that article, and they said "rework," they didn't specify GU or VGU. However, if you wholeheartedly believe that Morgana just needs a GU, you are sadly mistaken. She looks hideous, and she desperately needs a VGU to her to a modern place. Hell, I didn't even know she had feet or legs under her dress until there was a bug in the game that made them clip her skirt during certain animations, and that's just sad.
As for her kit, Morgana has a bipolar kit, much like Old Galio. The majority of her playstyle is dull and involves fishing with Q to plunk W under people. This directly conflicts with her R, which tells you "HEY GUYS, I NEED TO GO UP AND PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE," which gives her this disjointed kit that doesn't really flow with itself. And Black Shield, while iconic to Morgana, is honestly one of the most OP shields in the game. It's got WAY too much going on to be a basic ability, in my opinion, and I think it could use some trimming, or some being moved to be a part of a new ultimate on her. And other champions do have elements of Black Shield, such as Master Yi (ultimate) and Camille (passive AP shield), but no one has them together, which is think is a bit too powerful.

You have somehow confused Morgana's Q with Ashe's ult, because Dark Binding does not work like that.

Furthermore, her kit doesn't live up to the fantasy of a dark angel. She's basically a plain mage, so she definitely needs kit work to push her towards that fantasy.

Morgana was one of the older champions who already received a VU in the past, they really cleaned up and modernized all of her spells and retouched her model quite a bit. Old W looked like a boiling swamp broth and now it's actually cursed ground, for example.
Regardless of the old VU, her animations are quite rigid still and her VO is lacking severely. It wasn't really an article, it was Reav3's comment on someone else's thread that i read but that's not important. I'm pretty sure that if Kayle gets her big day, Riot's also going to plan Morgana at the same time. Yes, Morgana has legs but due to her floor dress, not a single skin shows them. Maybe
Morgana doesn't need to thread the needle into the "dark angel" phantasy. She isn't some demon like Swain is. She's a fallen angel. So if Kayle is an angel, Morgana needs to be an antithesis to her.
