Very Disappointed In The Morgana Visual Update

Morgana has been my main for many years now. I have over 720k mastery on her and played hundreds of games on her before the mastery system even came out. I tried to not get too excited about the update in case they changed something in a way I didn't like. I was ready to be let down, or at least I thought I was. Mostly I was worried about gameplay changes that would make her unplayable in mid lane. But I honestly never expected them to ruin her visual look. I was a little worried about the voice over, and while I do think the new voice is a worse match than her live one it's not a big deal, the acting is fine, and her getting a bunch more lines is awesome.

Her model on live is pretty old and bad, especially when she moves. She was already provocatively dressed and it fits her character so they can't really mess that up like they did with Kayle. Sure I might not like what they do with a particular skin or two but I have all of her skins except victorious so there's bound to be some I'll like, right? It honestly seems difficult to screw up. Make a bad ass and sexy fallen angel with newer graphics and a decent rig. What could go wrong?

HOLY CRAP THE WINGS LOOK SO STUPID! I probably should've seen this coming. Riot refuses to let something just be classically awesome these days. No, it's gotta be special and different and stand out! As if we've never seen 6 winged angels before anyways... This is like the stupid thing sticking out of reworked Warwick's back, except even dumber. I don't mind the extra set or two of small wings, though I wouldn't say I'm a fan of them either. I could see her having 3 pairs of wings with small ones up high and down low even (though again, not really a fan) but she needs main wings coming out of her upper back. It's really hard to tell from just splash art but it does seem like maybe 1-2 skins don't look quite so bad in this way (Bewitching & Blackthorn), but I'm not holding my breathe.

And naturally Riot committed fully to the look before sharing it with the public for what are mostly business reasons that make sense. The splash arts are already done. The model itself would take way more work than they're willing to do at this point to change it. There's no hope. Nope, we're just stuck with her main wings coming out of her butt because somehow someone thought that looked cool, other people somehow agreed and/or approved, and now here we are.

I get the lore reason for it. Their whole race is a bunch of 6 winged angel like beings and Morgana lost her two main ones as part of the whole her being split off from the rest of her race and "falling from grace" thing and it's why she can't fly. Though her number and placement of wings varies a bit from skin to skin so it's hard to even tell exactly what the intent is. Regardless, that's just not good enough. It looks really, really stupid. It isn't necessary to justify her lack of flying that way anyways. Ultimately this is a visual design choice and I feel that everyone responsible for it failed.

I don't even know if I want people to comment on this thread, especially if you disagree and actually like her new look. I want to vent and let Riot know how I feel.

As a fellow Morgana main, no matter what people try to say to justify it, I absolutely abhor the butt wings. Stupid design choice and not well reflected in the lore. Yes she "bound them" but shouldn't they be in the same position as Kayle's to start? Instead she's got 4, count em 4, wings coming out of her hips and butt. Then 2 around her neck. How in the heck does this make sense. Even chains on her back holding in a pair of wings would be better.

I'm curious if her animations will reflect what was shown in the trailer. Like... is she actually going to twirl when she casts Dark Binding and will she crouch when she throws down Tormented Soil? And that close up on the face....

A big sigh that they didn't at least try to do something with her passive. I'm glad they kept her kit intact, but spell vamp has been diminished so much in this game that Morgana can't reasonably access it (like has anybody thought Gunblade Morg could be a thing).

As for the wings... I don't disagree with the sentiment that there's nothing unique about the way the wings were handled. Swap out wings with shadow tendrils and you basically have Evelynn. I'm suspecting the push was to establish a greater distinction between Morgana and Kayle, which is fine... I guess. At least I'll still be able to play Morg unlike some of my former right click maidens that I can't play in good conscience with strangers as it would be a complete waste of their time (Evelynn/Irelia).
