Probably because of a lack of a proper rival skin series to Star Guardians, facilitating the need for enemies who could pass for the enemies of magical girls. Hence Void champions.
Cuz Void champions are the best group we have to rival the Star Guardians so far. Perhaps when another skin line (Dark Star?) is expanded we'll see some more about the Star Guardians.
