All the potential stories that can be told not only about the Darkin Wars but also about their homeworld,culture,magic,gods all the way up to a potential second invasion and even more darkin champions. While Varuses lore was divisive i think we can all agree that the darkin are getting more interesting with each mention.
Aatrox rework lore will give us more info I guess.
The new lore for them feels really weak. Previously it sounded like Aatrox was a demon of some kind. Except instead of making a contract with someone and then personally devouring them like Eve or Tahm, he made a contract with armies to give them the power to devour them enemies. And then, ultimately, themselves.
The new spin on the Darkin basically just sounds like the Burning Legion.
It probably doesn't help that I've strongly disliked the Darkin ever since Aatrox was released and I was desperately hoping Riot would just roll him into the 'spirit' category so I wouldn't have to endure another black and red edgelord champion.
I disagree.
What is Vaarus? One, Riot chose to not give a second A for whatever reason. Two, what is Varus? Kill, kill, kill, revenge. There is nothing more to him; he is the flattest character there is.
The Darkin is not the issue with the new Lore, that is why noone is discussing it. By all means let's stop deflecting this to the Darkin and talk about the real elephant in the room.
I'm interested to learn more about the Darkin, living weapons is a cool idea. I'd like to see what form the sister Varus is looking takes and I wonder who made the Darkin? Are they capable of anything if no one touches them? Ya Darkin interesting life forms no doubt.
