All the potential stories that can be told not only about the Darkin Wars but also about their homeworld,culture,magic,gods all the way up to a potential second invasion and even more darkin champions. While Varuses lore was divisive i think we can all agree that the darkin are getting more interesting with each mention.

Rebonack4 votesThe new lore for them feels really weak. Previously it sounded like Aatrox was a demon of some kind. Except instead of making a contract with someone and then personally devouring them like Eve or Tahm, he made a contract with armies to give them the power to devour them enemies. And then, ultimately, themselves.
The new spin on the Darkin basically just sounds like the Burning Legion.
It probably doesn't help that I've strongly disliked the Darkin ever since Aatrox was released and I was desperately hoping Riot would just roll him into the 'spirit' category so I wouldn't have to endure another black and red edgelord champion.

Which is what we see the other demons doing as well.
Now we're stuck with another faction of otherworldly antagonists that has to be explained in our already tenuously thin lore supply.
Now we have the Void, the Frozen Watchers, AND the Darkin all filling that category. And we still know virtually nothing about all three.
Given the glacial pace of the lore, I think we need fewer factions, not more of them.

What is Vaarus? One, Riot chose to not give a second A for whatever reason. Two, what is Varus? Kill, kill, kill, revenge. There is nothing more to him; he is the flattest character there is.
Poolparty Sauron4 votesFirst off the darkin is named Varus he doesnt have the doubled a in his name. Second if you think that varus is only about killing and revenge then you are the flat one here as he is motivated by finding the remaining darkin to do whatever.

However, the path to attaining that goal is somewhat more complex - which is where Riot is putting the most emphasis about the entire character. Since he shares a body with the Ionians, there is a constant struggle within the character over what path to follow. Val appears to be the pivot, with each side fighting for his support. Will he go over to revenge and empower the darkin, or will he follow his love and find a way to undo the transformation?
Yes, the Darkin Varus wants one thing - but that doesn't mean he will get it. The character, however, is three entities in one body with different wants and desires, all fighting for control. This struggle - and the choices that Val made leading up to this - are what Riot is putting weight into.

IDarkIFire1 votesBecause if we keep quiet about the bad aspects they will brush it off as "mostly positive feedback" and be done with it. They knew it was going to be a shitstorm, now they have to deal with it. Making a ruckus is the only way to get the attention needed to let them know they did us Varus fans wrong.
