Did Kindred actually save Maggie?

I was thinking about the events of what was happening and what was going to happen while Maggie wandered off and then it struck me, did Kindred actually save Maggie by talking to her?

If Maggie wasn't occupied by talking with Kindred, would she have just gotten bored and walked back to camp in time to get killed? It seems like Kindred kept her there for longer than I think she would have. It feels like a strange question because Kindred doesn't have an impact on someones death at all, but this seems like it actually delayed it.

P.S. ESPECIALLY when Wolf got in the way of her "escape", ironic?

It isn't so much as Kindred delayed her death, so much as it just wasn't her time. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I suppose the closest thing next to it is a near-death experience?
