@Riot, Can You Finish The Retcon? It's Been Years And Jax Still Doesn't Make Sense In Game!

The entirety of his character is based around his involvement in the League of Legends, which apparently no longer exists in game.

His existence doesn't make sense anymore, and It's been that way for years, and Riot, you seem to show no desire to fix it! That's a serious problem!

Characters within a game world should fit within that world...due to retcons, that hasn't been the case with League of Legends in the last few years.

Riot, If you're gonna retcon the lore, it should be done in a quick and complete fashion. Stop dragging things out!

Although some good content has been produced in the interim, most of LoL's lore doesn't currently make sense due to a badly handled retcon.

Heck, Riot's position has been pretty inconclusive as to what is cannon and what is not over the years.

Hate this post if you want, but I'm just asking Riot to be open about their plans for story/lore/gameplay, which is kinda the practice they built their company on back in the day...I'd hate to see them abandon it.

Although they don't seem to like to openly discuss story and lore direction in a detailed fashion anymore, which is a shame.

A Friend of mine told me today the reason LoL lore was retconned was due to Tencent buying Riot a few years ago, and Riot being given orders to maximize profits and dropping support for things that don't directly make money (like the Journal of Justice).

I'm hoping that isn't the case, but it would kinda make sense based on what I've seen.

The retcon is already finished. They simply haven't written new lore for every champion yet.

Dude, the GAME no longer matters in the lore anymore. Who cares if a champion or two exist? NONE OF IT EXISTS. Every single match may as well be the fever dream of a small child that drank too much antifreeze. The new "lore" for the game excludes the actual GAME.

Jaredan and a bunch of other Narrative fellows have already agreed that he's in a dire need for an update and mentioned that they're actively working on getting the 'bound-to-institute' champions right and canon (Such as Jax, Fiddlesticks, Nocturne, Orianna, Lee Sin).

Ant in Oz, for example, has been working on the new Shaco color text and updated bio (Then put it on hold in favor of Shurima, but possibly have gotten back to it by now). Sorry I don't have a better, more solid example.

######Also forgive me for not linking any source for the first part of my post. I just woke up, I'm super tired, hungry and lazy- But the confirmation that said group of champs are being worked on can be found in places like Jaredan's ASK.fm or on the Boards profiles of other Narrative dudes.

Well said friend is obviously wrong, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with the retcon in the first place. After all the retcon means that they have to revisit most of the champion lores, which is a lot of work,so if it was solely about "lore doesn't make money" they wouldn't do something like that.

If Tencent had any involvement in this, then it would be more likely that they weren't satisfied with the lores quality(they made the chinese splash arts for similar reasons)

To be honest, his lore didn't make much sense before the retcon.

"HE'S AN INCREDIBLY MIGHTY FIGHTER! HE'S SO POWERFUL, HE'S NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO USE A REAL WEAPON!" "Yeah, but where is he from? What motivates him? Who does he relate to?" "HE'S AN INCREDIBLY MIGHTY..."

Personally, I wish for good lore, which will take time to make, over quick ones. And in case you haven't been listening or reading, they have been going from area to area and redoing the lore in those places. Jax most likely will be in the Ionia lore update.

Actually, I can count on two hands the number of lores that don't make sense.

Heck, Riot's position has been pretty inconclusive as to what is cannon and what is not over the years.

Patently false, as stated by many people over your thread history.

Although they don't seem to like to openly discuss story and lore direction in a detailed fashion anymore, which is a shame.

Because spoiler alerts are a thing? Also, every time they release lore they have a discussion/dev blog about it which is pretty open.

Your friend is wrong. The retcon happened because the IoW was a corner the writers got themselves into.

Also if they dropped support for "unprofitable lore" what are the doing with things like expensive lore cinematics, paid writers, and well designed websites to hold the lore?
