@Riot, Could We Get a Definitive Point in the Timeline From Which the Timeline was Retconned?

@Riot, you retconned your lore. As much as I hate it, I guess I'm going to have to accept it.

If there's going to be a retcon, I feel like Riot should at least tell players what lore is cannon and what lore is not based on the LoL timeline.

@Riot, if you're going to retcon the history of Runeterra, I think you should inform players.

I'd say from the point that they stopped mentioning the League in champion lore. That was around Rengar's time I think?

Darius actually, but even then champions younger than Darius have seen changes, such as Diana, Zed, Thresh and Maokai (as per his 2013 lore).

The stuff that's definitively canon right now is from the Shurima event of 2014 onwards. Things before that are fairly reliable up until Freljord 2013. After that things get a tad muddied.

Darius was mentioned a couple of times in the JoJ, which makes it a bit confusing... But then so was Lissandra :P

I think Varus was the first indication you see Riot was moving away from the institude. By the time Nami came out you could tell they wanted to ditch the whole league concept. I remember seeing how “shit” her lore was on the forum before they change to the boards.

Varus was actually the last champion to ever have any reference to the IoW in any form of lore, that's why I count Darius; his lore worked wholly without the Institute and was one of the first of its kind in that regard; some champions didn't mention the Institute before, namely Shyvana, but Darius was the first champion in this new era of the Institute's existence being tenuous at best. I'm still of the opinion that by the time late 2013 rolled around Riot had firmly agreed that they would ditch the IoW, as evidenced by exploring new narrative mediums, new ways of delivering lore, and also Maokai's random lore update late in that year.

Also I feel obliged to say fuck you because I love Nami and her lore and she was the champion who got me invested in the lore.

So fuck you Beyond Legends! Nami's lore is awesome and you should feel bad!

(Sorry I don't really mean that it's an obligation of mine I'm sorry don't hate me)

I meant seeing, not saying. I fucked up and I deserve that lol.

Anyways I would agree with you. I fell in love with league lore because of Darius. I really love the blood brothers and Darius is the best. I have a giant bias for the unholy trinity (Darius, Leblanc, Swain) you wouldn't even believe.

Dude given the extent I've went to make things related to League's lore, I'm more than willing to believe!

You do good work Sharjo!! There is alot of depth and little hint Riot leave in there story that without your yearly sparknote like post. I would have totally miss alot of them without it!! The retwork characters are so much more dynamic and interesting. Freeking Ivern brought me nearly to tears.( I swore o'me mother it be d'sneaky evelyn gurl cutting onions again)

Omg. I want to read about the inner and overly complicated political drama in Noxus. I love political dramas and Riot keeps on teasing me.
