@Riot, please don't ignore this thread, it's kinda important to your games lore.

I've gotten into the odd lore thread where Summoners come up, and the lack of information on what a summoner is post-retcon is starting to become an issue.

@Riot, this is something we need to hear from the horses mouth!

@Riot, what is a summoner?

BTW, (Don't feel trapped by a definition Riot, You've already proven you're ok with retconning things as you feel like it.)

edit: I'm just asking Riot for what they define as a summoner! How is this getting downvotes?

I'm pretty sure we all want to know what a summoner is post retcon.

Hi i am from Riot, 100% officialy Riot Moderator. The Summoners do not belong in the lore anymore, they were sorcerers with very powerful magic who who were used as ''pupper masters'' in the tournament League of Legends to make it fair, each Summoner was like the ''coach'' to a specific champion that guided him through the game.

With a few words the Summoners were the pokemon masters and the Champions the pokemons thats why they removed them from the lore.

Also the old Baron Nashor (the small pink) was a magical being created by the Summoners and not the real Baron. The big blue one that we have now is the real one.

DoflamingoGT... considering your name, your post is pretty awesome.

Well done sir! Well done! One piece is awesome!

BTW, it would be nice to get a concise definition of what a summoner is in League of Legends.

Riot's said that summoner's still exist yet there is no lore to support that fact post retcon.

IMO Riot's gotta man up and tell us what's going on with it's narrative department, even it it hurts.

@Riot, if you aren't going to support summoner lore, man up and tell us the don't exist anymore!

As much as I hate that lore direction, I would actually have some more respect for you if you made a solid decision and fully went with it!

@RIot Please!, get your shit together!

Why am I getting downvotes? Do people not want to know what summoners are within the in-game lore?

Please people, don't be sheep. Upvote or downvote based on what is being said, not the person who is speaking.

I don't understand the downvotes. If summoners still exist, why shouldn't we get a definition of what they are?

The problem with "concise definition of a summoner" is that you're making the assumption that summoner in the new lore has as big of a relevance as they did in the old. In pre-retcon, they were an entire faction, a group. That faction, the institute they built, and so on no longer exists.

Because of that, asking "What is a summoner," is equivalent to asking "What is an Aztec".

Aztecs do exist, but they're not relevant like they were when the Europeans first came to the Americas. Even if the Aztecs are still around, their overall influence is not strong enough to drastically impact anything unless other more influential groups appear.
