You realize a good chunk of what we have now was conceptualized years before anything similar was released right? This isn't news. They do it a lot. They think of something, try to get it to work, set the idea on the shelf until it fits thematically etc.
Character design wise I can't believe he even exists. Looks like a fan character in every way.
The Shackled Demon and the Shadow Reaper have nothing in common but the name "Kayn", and it isn't exactly an original name in the first place.
He is obviously Haseo from .hack GU. The supreme edginess was a dead givaway. Since Haseo is considered the edgelords of edgelords with a sythe.
