We know that the denizen of the shadow isle need the black mist to move about but Evelyn doesn't. Maybe it's because she is part Void.
It could be as if a void parasite found a dead body in the middle of be reanimated by the black mist and jump into to the mix and thus Evelyn was born.
Epicurus1 votesDespite her distinct colouring, I think Eve is just too human looking to be of Void origin. Even Malzahar, a regular human who looked into the Void without actually entering, has a massive glowing cavity where his brain should be. In comparison, Eve looks rather normal.
While she is rumoured to be from the Shadow Isles, Eve's definitely doesn't look undead. There's no black mist, and no green-blue corpse lights. The spike effects on her abilities is also something unlike the typical Shadow Islanders. Note that Mordekaiser is not limited to the Black Mist, as he's strong enough to survive on his own. Maokai and Elise are not bound to the Black Mist either, as they are not undead. Eve may be in a similar position.
Of course, her appearance may change drastically during her update, so these arguments may be invalidated.
Neamean2 votesThese are all good point as to why I might not be as simple as she is both but we've never seen a case where both the black mist and the void are affecting something at the same time. Maybe the Void is wha tkeep her from looking undead and the Mist is what stopping hindering a mutation like Malzahar.
The odd are against it but I wouldn't say it is impossible. Maybe it could be a symbiotic relationship where the void aspect feed off of the eternal soul aspect of the Black Mist. By both being present she is free from the black mist but also not constantly hungering like the other void creature.

This is kind of why I made this post. Me wondering how can she exist outside of the Shadow Isle and her being both Void and Shadow Isle was one of theory that I came up as to why it is so.
Anyways thanks for sharing your insight it help me saw some flaws in this theory. I guess its back to the drawing board.
Epicurus1 votesYour theory is certainly possible. For all we know, Evelynn is the Darkin Watcher who created Fiddlesticks, wiped out the Meglings with Jax's real weapon, and then kidnapped Reginald Ashram. Until her lore gets updated in the VGU, anything goes.
Your post did get me thinking about what a Void/Shadow Isles hybrid would look like, though. On one hand you have a biological menace that assimilates all lifeforms into itself, and on the other you have an ethereal force that stops the souls of the recently deceased from passing on. I'm imagining an abominable creature that is a mix of body parts from all the animals and people it has ever consumed. But due to the Black Mist, its victims become undead when they are killed, and all these different parts of the monster are actually still sentient, in pain, and still somewhat autonomous. Eventually, exposure to the Void energy drives these lost souls insane until they are overcome with the ravenous hunger of the Void. So its this horrible nightmare of a creature, covered in screaming faces and flailing limbs, dragging itself ceaselessly onwards to finds its next meal...
