@Riot, If An Overwhelming Amount Of The Community Opposes The Retcon, WIl You Undo It?

_edit: To be clear to those people that didn't understand this, I am asking this question hypothetically.

To rephrase a question that I don't think needs rephrasing: Riot, how would you hypothetically deal with an overwhelming amount of the community that opposes the Retcon?_

I'm really curious about this. Any Rioter who can give a concise answer, please respond!

I wanna find out how much community feedback can actually shape this games narrative direction!

Despite the outcome, RIot's answer will tell us a lot about where they stand as a company in terms of community feedback being important.

In the old days, Riot used to keep us pretty informed about who was working on what when it came to pretty much anything.

For some reason staff members in certain disciplines have become a secret so that we can talk directly to developers anymore, which used to be Riot's strength. Why throw away one of your strengths?

We could ask questions to those people and actually get direct responses! That was really cool, and Riot certainly was the best company at the time to have that kind of community interaction!

And not only did Rioters interact with their playerbase quite often, they would actually adjust their decisions based on community feedback.

Now Riot, you've Retconned Runeterra, and sadly it may forever remained retconned, but I ask you:

Is it possible for community feedback to change your decision?

If an overwhelming amount of the community is against a retcon, will you reverse it?

I'm not asking if it is probable, I'm asking if it is possible!

What say you Riot?!

Again, speak for yourself. A small community of displeased fans is not the majority of the community. The community ether doesnt care, likes the retcon, dont know jack about the lore or just hate changes for hate sake.

It would have to be an overwhelming amount of the ENTIRE community, not just the board lurkers. And that's just not a feasible feat.

Impetual, I think at this point it's time to let it go. I'm just as upset about the retcon as you are, but Riot isn't going to undo this just because a few lore buffs got pissy on the forums. Very rarely does Riot reverse their decisions, especially on matters of story. The best we can do now is to gather our thoughts, accept the retcon, and do what we can to make it as good as it possibly can be.

It's pointless to keep whining for things to return to the way they were before, even if things are bad now. Sorry, mate.

Let us remember that large portion of the LOL playerbase probably doesn't care about the lore or have knowledge of it.With Riot treatment of said lore, lore fans are probably a minority in the playerbase. I don't know that for sure though, just how I think the situation is.I would like to be proven wrong & told that many LOL players care about & know of the lore.

Oh yes another vocal minority post rearing it's ugly head claiming to represent the majority of the playerbase. Now given the fact that the vast majority of the player base never even visits the forums let alone knows they exist we can safely dismiss this as yet another puff my chest and hear me roar type of post. You and you vocal minority don't nor have you ever nor will you ever represent the majority of the playerbase so stop pretending like you do.

Riot and the majority of the forum goers don't care about your rants or your claims of majority status otherwise you'd have several thousand posters agreeing and upvoting you and not the same small group.

If such a large amount of the community opposed the retcon(which is basically impossible as others pointed already out),then they'd probably still continue with the retcon at first to see the communitys opinion afterwards and if the community then opposes the new lore again, then they might react to it. However its likely they would still keep the retcon and merely add summoners and the league back in a way that doesn't interefere that much with the world. And if the community spoke up against that AGAIN,then they MAYBE they'd go back on it completely.

Notice however that there is basically zero chance for this to happen(even the first step has basically no chance of happening) and even if this happened they would probably still retcon individual champions and it would be a major setback for the lore team resulting in even less new lore for us.

I'm sorry, but in my eyes the lore team has really let players down over the last year.

The lore quality is questionable.

The lore quantity is undenyably lower.

And worst of all, the narrative team refuses to talk to its player-base.

I'm sorry, I love Riot and all, but we should not be giving them a pat on the back for getting worse at what they do.

That's just encouraging their lore team to keep failing to produce lore up to the old standard.

We want things to get better, not worse.

Again your opinion that it's worse and you should state that it's your opinion as in I feel it's worse not state it as fact.

Are you an undercover Rioter trying to make sense of this nonsense retcon? It kinda seems like it due to the amount of bullshit.

It really seems stupid that a company would assume that a player-base should innately understand how an entire games lore changes due to the removal of one of the central institutions without any additional information provided.

It's akin to telling us that the holocaust never happened but everything is somehow is same as it would have been if it did...bullshit!

Riot, you can't just say "Pretend everything happened the same way except one of the major power of the world never existed".

That's stupid, and is a really** lazy **way to re-write lore!

Riot If you are going to destroy Runeterra in a retcon, with the removal of the Institute of War and Summoners, Then you should actually take the time to write new lore without lazily filling in wholes with the old stuff that doesn't make sense anymore!

The hyperbole and sublte riot insults are pretty bad and using the holocaust as an example is not only tasteless but asinine and you could have the cure for cancer but you'd lose any credibility with that reference.

Sorry If once or twice a week I try to lobby for Riot to produce the kind of lore that they used to during their early years. (Season 1 and 2)

If some people that prefer the current lore release rate/quality to the older ones (That were delivered every two weeks and had actual story development for Runeterra and its champions) Then so be it.

But really, If you actually ever cared to read and try to actually discern the intent of any my posts, then bravo, you actually have some intelligence.

AdHominem attack on someone and then using that to congratulate them if tehy agree with you is pretty sad.

The fact of the matter is, I LOVE RIOT GAMES!

Seriously, I'm not a hater of Riot. I love them and I love their game.

I just think they made a major mistake in retconning their lore, and _I'm sharing my opinion on that. _ Now see ehre you actually state your sharing your opinion and not stating it as fact.

I want them to fix what I think is their biggest mistake!

I WANT RIOT TO BE SUCCESSFUL! I JUST THINK THEIR CURRENT LORE DIRECTION WILL LEAD TO STAGNANT CHARACTERS WHO DON'T HAVE ANY REASON TO FIGHT! ** RIP the Institute of War! **

Their current lack of written lore and excess of sloppy uninformative video based lore troubles me.

Was the Institute of War sometimes a silly reason for champions to fight one another? Sure, but it was a reason nonetheless.

Now champion seems to exist in a vacuum...which feels horrible from my perspective.

If you can't handle a player like me sharing their opinion once or twice a week on these boards then you should get your sissy ass off them!

Way to once again put your vitrual foot in your mouth, you could've elft alone adn let your opinion do the talking.

Have you seen the content of those responses? They are mostly bullshit responses that seem lore related, so that Rioters can say they responded, but contain little to no actual information.

If I see a bullshit response, I'm going to call it one.

Have you realized that the majority of responses to narrative threads lately have not been made by members of the narrative team?

It seems like Riot is trying to give us Red Responses from people who don't know what they're talking about in order to satiate us. It's kind of underhanded.

Again you make a statemnt as if it's fact the responses are bullshit because you don't agree with them, opinions don't make it so.

I'd post more examples but you should get my points now, stop bashing Riot and claiming your opinions as fact or that you repesent a majority or w/e. Simply state you feel there needs to be some changes and for fkcs sake keep it polite and avoid the personal attacks, Ad Hominem attacks etc. Also relaize that you've probalby made it so that no one in those departments will respond to you based upon the examples I've already shown.

Now the one piece of good advice I can give you is hop onto Twitter and nciely ask Moobeat for some clarification since he might be able to ehlp but if you go bashing anyone youre never going to get a response at all. Remeber it's all in the delviery, you could ahve the greatest lore idea for all time but it will get nowehre if your delviery is poor and is comprised of the things I pointed out.

So hopefully if you're nice you'll get a Rioter response but if you don't than take that as a lesson to watch what you say.
