Yorick should get the ultimate skin this year

And it should be free to players with Mastery 5 or higher on Yorick.

This new Ahri skin has cleared the air for me. When Yorick's skin comes out, it should be incredible. No stops pulled. New VO, all new effects, complete model change, unique recall, a 20 minute video of unique interactions, huge awesome particles. There should be an event where Yorick is plastered across every pixel of space on the client with skin-themed events and a full set of Summoner Icons in honor of Yorick. And just because, in the months after, Yorick should get three or four 975 or 720-level skins to make up for it as well.

And anyone who mains or plays a lot of Yorick should get it for free, as recompense for the 6 year gap. I don't know how this will be done, but it needs to. To prevent abuse, make it only eligible on release so that people don't just spam him after to get the skin. Like the reward borders for PROJECT skins.

This skin had better be the magnus opus of Riot design and outclass any ultimate thus far.

(I don't play Yorick, so I wouldn't even stand to gain from this idea, just to point that out if anyone was wondering)

I will literally be fuming if Riot just slaps together a 750 RP Yorick skin and calls it a job well done. It doesn't need to be ultimate, hell I don't care if it's even legendary. It just better be a clean as f*** 1350 at least to justify the 6 YEAR WAIT.

I mean, realistically, it's more of a year wait by now. Yorick was never going to get a skin during the other 5 years, mainly because of two things.

He has been a constant state of attempted reworks that got iceboxed, due to lack of ideas, vision, or decent theme. Read the devblog about Yorick, they've tried getting him reworked much longer before, but it never worked out, so the ideas were iceboxed as they worked on other needed reworks. Sad, but true.

Then the second fact, of his toxic gameplay. Though I feel like it was much less of this, much more the 1st reason, I see very little reason to put out a skin for a champion who has extremely toxic and bad to game health, when you've also taken him off free-rotation, because honestly, you don't want people playing him, else be forced to nerf him even further down. Riot once stated that if Old Poppy was ever seen in LCS, she'd be even further gutted beyond her state then, because they don't want more people playing Poppy.

I feel like that is very similar to the case of Yorick. They just didn't want people playing him, to no fault of the Mains themselves, but that is the problem when you main a champion that has game health issues. You get treated differently, than those who don't.

I'm not sure what you mean by "toxic gameplay". Yorick is probably the most well-balanced split-pusher of all because when he gets behind, he doesn't have much as a champ to fall back on since his teamfighting is so-so and his dueling potential is pretty lackluster without the Maiden. But when he gets ahead, he does his job of split-pushing well without doing it too well. It's not like Fiora, Trynd, or Trundle who can split-push, duel you under turret, and then continue on with a high health bar. That is toxic. If Riot didn't want people to play Yorick, then they'd rework him into something that they would want people to play. And that's exactly what they did. This argument is completely invalid if you were talking about old Yorick, who I agree was a very toxic champ. Besides, even if his skins did get blocked by a heavily delayed rework, that doesn't mean they have to completely shut down his skin team. They can still create concepts. Plus there's a lot of room to work with considering his two skins, aside from minor VFX and SFX, are just chromas of the default.

Boy, context, Old Yorick, yes.

There's no point in making assests for a skin you're not going to make. Concepts likely exist, but they still take time, especially after a VGU. That said, he still has a lot of models to work with, Mistwalkers, Maiden, his wall. Not to mention he has a significant amount more VFX than most.

Have you seen Star Guardian Syndra and the new Battle Boss skins? Syndra's orbs have their own idle animations as well as their own death animations, like they're living creatures. The bombs in BB Ziggs E poke their heads out of the ground and look around at random. All the new BB skins have 3D effects going into the actual ground. BB Brand has a stack indicator for passive and an indicator for the number of bounces his ultimate as bounced. And as for AI visuals, Dragon Sorceress Zyra has some sick looking plants, and they're up much more often than Yorick's ghouls considering CDs and how literally every single bit of Zyra's kit involves her plants somehow. I'm pretty sure the visual technology is available.

It's been over 6 fucking years and he still has never received a single fucking skin despite being one of the oldest fucking champions in the game. He's existed for over 2/3s of League's existence and in that time has been the most ignored champion bar none. Kept un-viably weak for years, was one of the only champions to ever be taken off the fucking free champion rotation, so many people never knew he even existed, and even more people had never seen him played a single time. Through out all of this we were told he could not have even a single skin, BUT that there would be a skin with his update.

Then we were told instead, that he'd be getting a skin after his update. He gets his update, and is still largely ignored, but has a slightly higher play rate and is on rotations now. . . But its still been another fucking year and we've heard nothing about any Yorick skin at all, except the infamous RIOT "Soon(tm)"

He was in Rework Limbo for his time alive in League, so yeah, it's understandable.

They said he'd be eligible for skins after this update, not that he'd get one immediately. If they're confident to have said in their Devblog that a Yorick skin is being made, than production for it started way before that one post, as it's enough in development for them to be confident in it's release.

You're still missing the part where by their own timelines, they could have released 2 Yorick skins since the relaunch, after they've already made his players wait years and years just to be acknowledged as worthy of playing their own character, let alone having him exist in his old form, or, god forbid, ever getting a fucking skin. Meanwhile Annie and Teemo, and all of RIOT's favorites are getting into the double digits of skins, and Ahri is getting her more than yearly skin right on schedule.

Oh, and an interesting note on that last part, based on the timelines RIOT has given us for skin creation time, and the releases of Ahri's skins, they have almost perpetually been making a skin for her since her release, but can't spare the time to make a single one for Yorick in a longer amount of time than Ahri has been a part of the game.

Could've. Things don't turn out that way, they don't have unlimited resources. It still falls down to whether they can make a good enough theme, something that isn't as cheap as a 750, something that resonates with the character, and makes sense of his visuals. You also have to make sure that his skin is far away enough from his base, that it isn't repetitive, which is hard considering you have to find a theme that matches zerg-like minions running towards stuff.

Like said, Yorick has been in Rework Limbo. They couldn't afford to make a skin, in fear that they actually got a concept that works, and had to immidiately redesign the skin with the correlating visuals, with possible mechanics that may no longer make the skin a good skin.

In otherwords, you're simplifying the skin design process to an impossibly low standard with considering the actual state that Yorick has existed in the last few years. It's sad but true, Yorick is extremely hard to make skins for, alongside Illaoi. You need to find a concept that integrates their mechanics into something that looks visually good, but at the same time, different.

How exactly have they wiped the slate of waiting years and years while literally every other champion gets at least 1, in some cases 4, scheduled to be 5 skins in that timeframe, clean? The consideration for all that time waiting cannot, and should not be ignored and discounted.

Speaking from a realistic perspective, that will probably never happen. With the exception of Udyr, all of the other ultimate skins have been made for highly played champions. Yorick has like maybe a 2% play rate across all elos. The ultimate skin is probably going to be for a champion that has been neglected but still has a decent play rate so that Riot can profit greatly from it.

If you're going to wait for years for a Yorick skin, and then it's 15 bucks for his first one in a long time, I don't think people are going to appreciate it either. My money is on a 1350 skin

Yeah, but 15 bucks for a skin is still relatively expensive, and unless it was extremely great, people don't buy as many 15$ skins as they do 10$, which is still profitable due to the increased cost. More people are willing to fork over money for a 10 dollar skin, so if they wanted to please Yorick mains, wouldn't they appeal to the most of them?

That really depends on the skin. I see those Riven and Yasuo skins from the Vs. event every time almost because of their quality. If it was a mainstream crappy skin like "Arcade Yorick" or "Dark Star Yorick" etc. then ofcourse nobody would care. It has to be innovative, fresh and new, like any good skin.

I actually do play some good amount of yorick.

I'm still up for scientist yorick voiced by Justin Roiland.

Basically: his passive now summons meseeks out of portals. His q smashes a random object one might findin a garage or dumpyard, like a rake, a rusty pipe, a weedwacker, and the like. His w summons a portal which opens up into a different world every time with a different colour schemes and designs (maybe like 15 different versions),like maybe one is trees and another is broken glass or something. His e is a chemical launcher, basically a gun that shoots syringes full of his range liquid. His ult should summon a yellow maiden with a brown head, which chould also be voiced by Justin Roiland.

Most importantly, make him EXTREMELY nihilistic. Like, I don't care who dies as long as I get what I want kind of nihilism.

ultimate skins are for popular champs. yorick will never get one. that's too much money spent on making a skin no one will buy. the next ultimate skin will no doubt be for a top laner who's actually popular, like renekton nasus or jayce

I would expect his first new skin to be 1350. going from 0 skins to a legendary or ultimate immediately would be kinda ridiculous.

Due to Yorick's Maiden and ghouls, he is litteraly incapable of getting a skin below 1350 RP.

If annie, Malz and other "summoning" champs can have skins below 1350, then Yorick can too.

Yorick can be the next Valentine with maiden, for a start.

Or if he has to go beyond, then he can get a Cooperate skin, haven't had one of those in a while. In that skin, Yorick will be a manager, maiden is the boss, and the ghouls are the white collar workers.

But he could leave small portals when he kills stuff. And then robots could teleport through them. And he could make a laser fence jump from the groud. And he could summon a plane, which then transforms into a Maiden. And both their voices would be filtered.

I don't think there will be an Ultimate skin this year. With how late Elementalist Lux hit after DJ Sona, I'm thinking the next Ultimate skin would be around May of next year.

As for whom the next Ultimate would go to...

I don't play the champion, but Zed feels about right. We've seen a Mage, Marksmen, Jungler and Support so far so the only things left are Tanks and Assassins. I can't think of any flagship Tanks, but Zed certainly stands out as a high profile Assassin for League of Legends. I suppose this could also go to Katarina or LeBlanc, but Zed is feeling more like a hunch due to him not having a skin since Project in 2015.

Zed got the championship skin last year, and sales for that were insane. I would be pretty pissed if he got an ultimate, considering how new he is compared to others.

they arent making them by CLASS. they are making them by role. support, jungler, adc, mid laner. theres only one more and thats top lane. and i have a feeling thats going to go to nasus, sirhcez asked riot if they would be making a ultimate skin for a top laner next before elementalist lux came out. a rioters official response was ;). sirhcez is known for playing 3 or 4 champions top. singed nasus garen and taric. (taric less so) out of these nasus is the most logical for one of these skins as he has been a popular and staple top laner forever

just a theory of course and has nothing to do with my own personal bias from off maining nasus

Nasus would be a convenient choice simply because the skin could "evolve" based on his number of stacks. Considering his last two skins have been 750 caliber with Archduke and Worldbreaker, I could see Riot deciding to give him a higher quality skin.

Still disappointed that they didn't run with Raid Boss Nasus, instead giving us a bunch of squishy mage Battle Bosses. How can I form an evil Battle Boss team with only Blitzcrank in the ranks?

I don't think the first new skin Yorick gets after 6 years will be an Ultimate. That'd be like pain for people that really want a skin on him, or people that don't even want it. Ultimates so far have been older champions, yes, but they have still been fairly well played over the years in the game. So I don't see it happening for him.

He means that for some people, they may not be able to afford a 30 skin for their favorite champ and they have to wait for another few years for a cheaper skin.

The second part of the second sentence (kindof) means that the skin would probably not sell as well to players who don't play yorick. Like the lux skin, even people who don't play lux that much got the lux skin. But for yorick, people might not want to get a yorick ultimate skin.

Having any ultimate skin added to the game is cool, but Yorick probably wont be getting one(at this time).

Indeed. I'm sure there are people out there that would love one but there are many people out there that probably won't be able to or don't want to spend the ($22 it actually is) on an Ultimate.

Since it'd be the first skin for a champion that hasn't seen skins in 6 years since his release, I also doubt Riot would do it cause he's not highly popular enough to even warrant that tier. If anything they could make an Epic (1350) at most but we will probably see a 975 before anything.

No, shoudl nto be free to level 5 mastery players, anyone can get level 5 even bylosing every game, give him a skin and make it fre to level 6-7 players.
