So obviously, the walk is not the point of this video, but it does highlight that his walk looks awkward as fuck.
This doesn't really feel like Swain to me. Maybe I'm just too used to the cane but his walk feels very unnatural regardless. It looks very stiff and I don't even know what's going on with his arms.
He's an older man. He's not supposed to have a perky, bouncy walk. He's not supposed to have an athletic, dashing movement. He's supposed to move like a a man with a strategic objective.
Additionally, his arm is held out because that is his weapon. He has to have it exposed in order to properly fight and use his magic.
looks like one of those older games where they slide along the ground with a walking animation.
ANd honestly, we way cooler if his hand was kept by his side, but he flourished it on attacks instead. Say when he uses his q, he swings his arm forwards to zap as his cloak flutters from the sudden and swift movement.
It doesn't convey much personality. It's pretty stiff. Not in a militaristic sort of way either. Just like... what you might expect from an amateur animator (not that the animator who did this is an amateur, but...), or an old video game animation, or an unfinished animation.
There's no sense of weight to his walk. No Anticipation. No windup. That sort of stuff. It just looks bad.
Maybe just MAYBE he walks like he has an injuried leg or something... because he has an injuried leg. Maybe, im not 100% sure.
Those aren't his arms. If you look close, he's wearing a coat over his shoulders without putting his arms through. I suppose it's realistic that they sort of flap about when he walks, but it does look odd the way they animated it.
