The Katarina and Ahri newer icons/splash arts look much more updated and better in quality. The Janna one however doesn't look too different in quality.

Sorry if i offend but as much as i find both of these appealing, the old kat in that pic at a glance kind of looks like a barbie doll posing for a box art shoot and i find it pretty funny..i can't tell if its because i'm only seeing her face and not her whole body or not but, it to me looks like the newer one is giving more of a feeling of depth and motion. the first seems kind of stiff to me XXD.(i'm not taking sides here though)

New one looks more "I am going to rip out your guts and hang them on my wall." than the old "Do you like how I pose?" look.

It fits her character much more to look like a ruthless, semi insane look.

You don't offend at all! Everyone is intended to their own opinion. :D While I love the killer look on Katarina, I wish they softened up her cheekbones / face slightly. She can look deadly without looking like she sniffed some things on the way in to the photoshoot. :')

But.. I think that all three of them look very beautiful ._. They're also more representative of their characters, and gave them a recognizable face. I also feel the new splashes tell you something about the characters, something a lot of the old splashes failed to do.

I don't really get the hate for the new splashes and making characters look older. Does everyone need to look 16?

For me, Janna looks older now. Before, she seems to be more a teen or being around 19-20 years old. Now, she looks older. Shes also seems to have more confidence.

For Katarina, I prefer the new one all the way. Seems more like Kat. ^^

Although i think both pieces are nice i would still have to choose the newer one as it fits with the current version of her..Janna is after all a mature and wise adult now, i would have doubts about her age if they keep the 1st one because she looks like shes 16 or something..Also the newer one i feel has the most vibes when it comes to someone who has supposedly "mastered her craft" as some kind of wind mage/goddess.

Where i come from its very easy to mistake a 20yr old for a 16yr old and its also easy to mistake a 16yr old for a 20yr old. Its common where i live.

But yes Janna looks around 16 to me in the first splash. She looks soo much more like an adult to me in comparison to the first, Not that i'm complaining, as i love both of these styles.
