What happened to the Darkin? (theory)

Aatrox is one of the last remaining Darkin; only 5 remain in total. They are a warlike and bloodthirsty species, who are powerful enough to turn the tide of any battle. Such a species threatens to conquer runeterra, destroying all of those who inhabit the land. The Darkin do not age and are too powerful for any runeterran to defeat in combat, so how did they die off?

The answer is simple.

Who would do anything in his power to maintain balance in runeterra?

Who is just as unkillable as the Darkin?

Who has the power of a god in runeterra?

Bard

Bard has the ability to travel through time and space, and has the power to completely destroy all who stand in the way of balance.

Not only does this mean that Bard nearly wiped out the Darkin due to a threat they might pose, it means that the surviving Darkin were considered weak and peaceful enough to let live.

Aatrox, the embodiment of war, who is so powerful that no runeterran could best him in combat; a living legend, was one of the weakest and most peaceful of his kind. He is a frail child in comparison to those who Bard erased from existence.

tl;dr dont fuck with brad

I wouldn't want to mess with something that communicates through music.

Who says that they are a "warlike and bloodthirsty species, who are powerful enough to turn the tide of any battle"?

I mean, sure that Aatrox can do that... but it doesnt means that his whole race was like that.

Just saying that the whole race is like that, because 1 guy act like that, is like saying that the yordles are a race of evil creatures with the power of darkness and control the cosmos because Veigar can do that, and he is a yordle.

What if the rest of the Darkins were just a random race of batlike people that loved eating cookies or something like that?

Uhm where are you getting that from? If bard can travel through time and space?why would he not go back in time to fix stuff like Xeraths ascension or the creation of the shadow isles?

Also who says that bard can destroy anyone? From what we've seen bard seems to be pretty weak on the offensive side.

So what did the Darkin do that meant they were worth Bard annihilating them? The Darkin predate humanity so it's not like they were a threat to modern species, in fact if Darkin did in fact have an empire of some kind that stretched across Runeterra then it's likely that Bard would've have ended up coming to aid them against certain threats depending on the circumstances.

No, I recon the Darkin collapsed as a species due to changes in the world or internal strife. Maybe a bit of both. Either way I doubt Bard had a hand in their downfall, if only having five members even counts as a downfall. There might've only ever been six Darkin ever. Losing them would still be a hefty percentage but not a huge downfall, y'know?
