So... Orianna post lore...

Why does she still have the key in her back, if it's no longer canonically part of her? It's such a strange thing to me, I realize it's a big part of her look, and a good way to make her look larger, but if that's why it's still there, why remove it from the lore? I can't imagine it's too large of a change, right?

Riot is not consistent with their lore at all.

The "Lore team" and the design team don't exactly have to communicate that all that much after the champion has been released.

Because Orianna actually has a few animations that involve that key, so just removing it would lead to a situation where she tries to do animations involving it and whoops! It's not there so she's interacting with mid air!

Imagine the animation where she's winding up the key but without the key actually being there. That's what would happen.

Basically they'd need to make some major design tweaks to Orianna in game to make this change.

Plus she did have the key during her history, so you could just say it's Orianna but how she looked before she switched out her heart for a hextech crystal.

Now, I want you to ask yourself a question:

"Does Riot make any money off of changing Orianna's model / animations?"

If the answer is yes, then it will happen.

If the answer is no, then you know why it will never happen.
