Why were pizza feet even made in the first place

Many champions used to have triangle feet, some still do. My question is why they were even there. Was Riot too lazy to make actual feet or something else?

Old tech for an old game....new tech for an upgraded game.

The less amount of polygon needed to make them feel like actual feet. I mean triangles are 3 sides, can't get lower than that on polygons which was necessary due to the hardware limitations back in the day. People seem to forget how quickly the computer had advanced over the years, remember that in the 70 the technology used for the moon (computing) was equivalent to a current scientific calculator (granted of the TI series but still), that is less than 50 years ago, barely 25 years ago the first website was created. The reason why they have remained is a simple example of "dont fix what aint broken"

Pantheon is actually a distant relative to Sideshow Bob.

Likely because it was really difficult to make feet that were small and actually looked like feet(especially when seen from above)

Pantheon's Dorito-feet is crucial to his design. How else will he have such an impact when landing from skyfall?

Technical capabilities from a decade ago.

They're old. Have you seen the models from early WoW? It's the same.

Pay close attention to what year the game was released back then..
