With 10 forms, I think Elementalist Lux is a bit Overkill.
As we've found out today, Elementalist Lux will have 10 different forms. 10. Each of the skin's forms is very high quality, very polished and stylized, and will even include different art for Lux's face in-game. Ultimate Skins are supposed to be of higher quality than all other skins: but honestly, I think using the resources for 10 skins could have easily produced high-quality skins for many champions instead of just 1. I think this is a little overkill when looking at the skin disparity in the game.
I'm a Lux fan - Lux was the first champion I ever played in league, and I thoroughly enjoy her character: that of a measured, positive thinking 'girly-girl' of a champion that gives her all on the battlefield ; and I wondered why she didn't have many skins that reflected this. At the time, she boasted many military skins that I didn't think fit her personality whatsoever: Imperial, Commando, and Steel Legion, which all appealed to the same fantasy.
On the boards there were things like 'Cheerleader' and 'Sailor Moon' Lux skin concepts which I both thought would fit her personality perfectly - and I was thrilled when 'Star Guardian' was released. This, I felt, was a great skin for Lux, fully realized.
Elementalist Lux, in the face of Star Guardian, feels... Uninspired. There is no specific character to the skin, and it uses relatively generic interpretations of the elements in each of its forms. In fact, I don't think Lux necessarily needs this skin: it is incredibly generic for her, who already has 2 very impressive skins - now she essentially has 10 more, but none of them have a lot of personality.
In reality, it seems like overkill to give Lux this skin when she has just started a skin line. I think Lux is a good recipient of an Ultimate Skin considering they are chosen in part for character popularity, and Lux has always been a popular champion - but the fact that she will now have 10 skins that are higher quality than any skin that several champions own - that is hard to swallow.
TLDR
Instead of putting so much effort into this skin for a single champion with 2 high quality skins, I really think that having 10 different elemental skins on 10 different champions, at this level of production in particles and polish, would have been preferable. Seeing highly polished Elemental skins for Lux, Syndra, Karma, Ahri, Zyra, and/or Cassiopea I believe would have preferable than 10 skins on just one champion.
