Well Kayn isn't even a ninja and has only 1 or 2 shadow techniques,so shadows aren't that important.

I'm not very familiar with Akali's lore, or if it was changed?

How is she similar to Kayn? Not saying she isn't, it's a genuine question.

I isn't really mention in her lore but more based on her Kit in game where she is both ap and ad. Also her Passive is called Twin Discipline. One part of the passive is to heal and the other is deal damage which is a duality in itself.
