People need to stop saying that we should be grateful towards the skins team.

In the end they're doing their job, and nobody deserves praise for doing what they should. It's like how people think they deserve a prize for NOT flaming people in their games.

If someone don't like a skin that is released they don't have to like it. Don't tell someone "At least you're getting a skin" because that just tells the skin team that no matter what crap they make, people will just accept it, which is just pure bullshit.

The skins team hasn't been impressive this year in a lot of peoples eyes. (Champins with tonnes of skins getting more, skins team not responding often/constant radio silence, skins themes being less varied etc etc.) So I think it's pretty natural that people are to be generally more on-edge with each skin release. It also tells the skins team that if people aren't happy, they shouldn't get lazy.

People are permitted to their opinions, whether they're sensical or not. Whilst I'm not one to say it's a good thing to go and say those opinions, I'm someone who believes strongly in people being allowed their own thoughts.

In the end, don't spout "Be grateful" when people really don't have much to be grateful for. Besides a legendary or two, the skins team has not gone above and beyond this year.

That's such a jaded and unfortunate point of view.

But I agree nobody is entitled to anything, that said I think it is pretty unfair to say that the skins team haven't been going above and beyond, I genuinely do think they have been putting out some incredible work this year.

It's understandable that you and others will be let down by certain skin releases, and you may think there has been nothing good for the entire year, but ultimately they have the statistics to see what sells and what doesn't, and if they want to expand their sales they need to investigate such things and see what themes sell.

They aren't doing a bad job, even if you dislike what they release, and they most certainly -do- deserve praise for the work they do from the people who enjoy it.

Your main point is a fair and correct assessment of the situation. And I do agree with it:

But I may have an explanation for this next bit:

Besides a legendary or two, the skins team has not gone above and beyond this year.

The skins team has likely devoted more of their time to re-making skins for VGUs, since those have ramped up in the recent past.

That aside, I think I know why you got so many downvotes. Your stance was too inflammatory, you made the post about the balance team (and mostly rightly so), when your main point was about freedom to think for oneself. People didn't see that you were talking about freedom of thought, and instead thought the point of the post was to bash the skins team.

What I don't understand is they make subpar uninspired crap. Despite the community tossing great ideas at them for years that are not copyright issues. Like crazy cat lady yorick for example since his release. But nope nothing.

Then the next issue I have is they make skins for champs that can't make a good mixed comp for looking cool and having a good chance to win. Example battle bosses. Basically 5 ap. It irritates me because years ago I made a list of champs and minor reasons for each on who would make a great arcade or boss skin. (Can't/won't find it in the lifetime of comments/topics) I get AP has better spell effects but still, battle boss draven would fit so well on many ways for one. Battle boss shyvana and so many more.

I downvoted because i understood what you said and i don't agree with that. Popular champions like Ahri, Ezreal, Yasuo should indeed get more skins since they bring more profit, If champions like Yorick or Illaoi are never played then they shouldn't get skins, this happens by default based on what the majority wants and its simple marketing, it looks like anime-themed characters appeal more in general and apart from that most skin themes fit with these type of characters anyway. They can't be equal on skins with over 150 characters that's nearly impossible.
