So... why is the end of Gangplank's sword orange?

At first I thought It was blood... Than I realized it was more orange than red. Is it like heated to the point of being red-hot, or is it just stained from all the oranges he eats?

Red-hot; it's his new passive.

It has to do with his new passive.

Trial by Fire Gangplank's next attack ignites the target, dealing bonus true damage over 1.5 seconds and granting Gangplank 30% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds. This cannot happen again for a few seconds.
