Champions Are Now National Figures Rather Than Global Ones. They've Had Their Lore Downgraded.

Since the retcon, we haven't had a single example of inter-faction lore.

Zero. Zip. None. After after a year, and still no end date in sight.

Lore bio's have pretty much been shortened across the board, with longer bio's in the works.... bio's that never seem to actually come or be actually acknowledged in any serious way.

I'm sorry to rehash things, but seriously, how is lore better now!? In pretty much every way to compare it, it seems worse!

It's been over a year since the retcon, we've had a cool few events with national impact (with no global issues actually even happening yet, just relatively small scale stuff only).

The Kalamanda event was better than pretty much every lore event released post retcon. Lore hasn't improved since the retcon. It's gotten worse.

Riot hasn't event managed to make Runeterra make sense yet, assuming it's still called Runeterra, and this game is still going to be called the "League of Legends" for some reason even though it doesn't exist anymore.

I miss the little stories I'd hear about the champions every few weeks. I miss the lighthearted yet connected lore the "League of Legends" provided.

BTW: None of the post retcon stories would have been prevented by the Institute of War if it still existed. There was no reason to get rid of it assuming there were competent writers available to write around it when necessary.

The thing is that Riot wants to provide a solid foundation first, before states get interacting.

Interaction between nations becomes meaningful when you know the 2 nations that interact with each other, but if one of them is just a name that you read a few times, then it looses a lot of meaning.

Not to mention that you completely missed last years harrowing which had Bilgewater&the shadow isles interacting with each other,or Cassiopeia,a noxian, being pretty much the one to release xerath and Renekton. It may not have been a big event like bilgewater, but it was still something.

Also I think the word "global issues" is kind of out of place here considering that in the old lore, there were barely any global issues, there was just sometimes a bit of interaction/conflict between 2 given nations, thats hardly global....

Yeah, because Miss fortune would surely not notice how GP is still alive if she faced him in the league of legends am I right? Not to mention that killing a champion was forbidden by the league,so MF appearantly killing Gp without suffering any consequences would have been totally ok.

Bilgewater and Shadow Isles thing can have potential of faction interaction. Bilgewater in general has the potential of being linked with places like Ionia, Noxus, Demacia and Freljord. Unfortunetly, its potential, not something that was realized as of now. Harrowing is not fleshed out as it can be, nor the real threat the Black Myst is. They are doing it in a snails passe, making the visual and lore update so to speak for a setting. Now in terms of it is a good update or a bad one, that depends on how they execute it

I feel they will eventually link each faction in some way, there are some hints with that (with Rek Sais lore, and the Shadow Isles thing) but actual faction on faction lore development will take some time if they want to make the release of a certain quality. Noxus vs Bandle City that was hinted as a possible event maybe your answer to this more interactive world you strive towards. I wish there was more energy put towards lore release so that each time they release something it isnt considered an event, lore release should not be an event, it should be a common thing.

Well, you seem to forget that this game didn't actually have any lore update for 3 whole years (with the only exception of Freljord event who was, canonically ret-con territory). You can like or hate the ret-con, it's a matter of taste, i won't argue that, but that doesn't change the fact that lore lacked too much long of a serious update, at least Foundation team is trying to do something.

Me personally, I don't like the idea of how the factions are as of now. They seem too much like different themed generic set pieces rather than actual places and times in which people lived. I would like the "factions" fully fleshed out more before we get some more criss-crossing.
