The other mecha skins are silvers, blues, and orange highlights, while mecha zero is an invert of the colors, while that in itself isn't a bad thing as its a legendary And should stand out from the pack, but his base color shade is just kinda strange looking,

The Orange to me reads very "construction equipment" like something you would see ok a crane and sion the blood thirsty juggernaut and even as a mechanic wants to decimate and destroy stuff, feels wrong to me,

Maybe change the colors a bit, bring the orange to a rustier, darker, or red shade, maybe the greys can go darker too, to make it match up with the deeper shades

I dunno that's my personal feedback, this is Sions 1st skin since his relaunch and I wanted it to be best as possible

PS, didn't know which board to put this in, I went with story, art, and sounds, since i think, skins are an art asset, if it should be in another thread let me know

You have to consider the "hidden lore" of the Mecha Skins, they all were constructed by the Yordles. Heimerdinger, Ziggs and Rumble to be exact.

If you take into account that the Yordles are not a bellic race, it makes sense for them to create Mechas for "construction works" that later evolved into war machines as seen in the Mecha Kha, Aatrox and Malphite. Since The Prototype 00 was the first created, it's possible that he was created for the transportation of construction materials (and construction works)... therefore, they used "construction equipement like colors" for his design.

Remember: The Mecha 00 is not the real Sion, but an upgrated version of him, created by Yordles. Which means that the Prototype 00 is not "the blood thirsty juggernaut" that you know.

While the design of the skin is definitely Mecha style, a few of Sion's lines make him sound like a rogue Battlecast unit--his taunts at Blitzcrank and Viktor, and how he says "function over form" the same way Viktor does.

Was that intentional? Like, are you guys trying to tie the Mecha and Battlecast lines together, with the prototype Sion being a joint effort of Yordle engineering and Viktor's programming, which clearly would leave the two sides at odds, leading to the split and the competing Battlecast and Mecha factions (which could follow along with the Project line as a means to compete with these new technological terrors)?

Or is it all just a coincidence :O

I guess that someone "hacked" The Prototype 00 (Due the "Unauthorized access" of the Teaser) and made him "evil"... and that "someone" could be the "Program (Lissandra)"

Well, as far as i understood, It seems that he has some conection with Viktor, like "OMG halp meh plz" mentioned... However, I really doubt that it was him because he is not the kind of guy who would "steal" from others (As was mentioned by many people during the "Jayce Release Lore Problem")... however, when PROTOTYPE 00 "dies" (for first time), his color changes and "matches" with the "Battlecast Line", so, its a possibility. Maybe Viktor created the "PROGRAM" to control the Battlecast army, but the PROGRAM was smarter and took control of all the machines "skynetstyle"?.

Other people mentioned that Veigar could be the one that "hacked" ZERO and it makes sense considered that he is an evil Yordle that hates yordles and he uses machines (Baron Von Veigar) and its an AI (Final Boss Veigar) that has control over some machines (Battle Boss) in some skins. However, i dont think that Mecha Sion mentions him.

EDIT: Omg The Voice Actor of Mecha Zero and Final Boss are the same person. It must mean that Mecha Zero Sion was Hacked by Final Boss Veigar!!.

... or maybe... It was TahmKench in an attempt of destroying the yordles since he hates them(?)

Due to his Voice Over Sion is trying to get the control himself ("Picture the perfect world, where all follow me!") I also doubt Viktor as the Creator of the PROGRAMs, first because he has his the Battlecasts and second: It doesn't fit into his character/art/whatever. PROGRAMs are more futuristic than Viktors machines.

Well, Viktor created Blitzcrank and the PROGRAM has a relation with Blitzcrank... so... who knows... or maybe The PROGRAM was created by Lyte in the Freljord to help people and has no relation with the hacking of ZERO...

Because the Hacker of 00 is Final Boss Veigar... OF COURSE.

Judging by Sions VO,he isn't under the control of anyone,so whoever hacked him either gave him free will or wasn't able to take control(or Sion simply doesn't realize that he is getting controlled).

The quote "Imagine this planet, clad in silicon and steel." also sounds a lot like it would fit with creator viktors view of a perfect world

For this skin, we realized a lot of his other skins were pretty dark, and we wanted this one to be a bit different and stand out. The colors were intention, and we wanted him to be a bit brighter. For instance, Mecha Malphite is a pretty bright purple!

I can see where you're coming from, though. I'd be happy to toss along your feedback about the colors. :)

I realize that you probably won't be able to do anything about this but I'll still ask:

Is there anything that could be done about his feet? His model honestly looks so bad to me with his legs being just poles with no actual feet. I realize they are kinda maybe there but they are so tiny and the proportions are way off.

I'm glad he got a skin but I just wish it was one I like. The model being so off just kills it for me.

I was so hyped when I first heard the name of the file. Then I saw the teaser image and was even more hyped. Then I saw his train form and I was all disappointment and sadness from there on out.

The colors are ugly, bright, and don't seem to mesh at all. The train form thing feels incredibly hokey and lame and it shakes like a rickety piece of junk. The sounds are distorted to levels beyond even my liking, and I really like that kind of robotic distortion sound. His axe is a hammer with a pointless spinny thing. But mostly, the skin isn't inspired by the jaeger of Pacific Rim like the other Mecha skins, it's inspired by Transformers. And not the bad ass ones from the new movies either, but instead by the old cartoons. :(

I think in general the problem is the lack of badassness going on. The april 1st skins, this skin, the lunar revel skins. All of them feel like kid friendly crap to me. I want kick ass, menacing, dark, even scary stuff.

The recent project skins felt less badass than Yasuo's (except perhaps Fiora, but I loathe Fiora as a champ). The bright yellow of Leona and the green clothes on Lucian killed those for me and those were the only 2 of the 5 I play. The two recent blood moons? Still brighter and on far less sinister champs than previous blood moon skins, but at least they look decently bad ass.

And oh man, the tragedy of the new Lissandra skin. A skin bad ass enough it would possibly get me to buy and play Lissandra because it's that cool... and then I saw her self cast ultimate. ;( Blitzcrank can't settle for making me miserable just in games he's in, no he has to ruin an entire skin that isn't even his. The new Soraka is alright but all brightly colored and essentially just her typical heal bot spammy self, so meh.

Sorry I don't mean to dump this all at your feet exactly Katey. I just want bad ass skins (ideally for champions I already play of course lol), and the skins team seems determined to deny me that at every turn for a while now. On the plus side I got festival Kassadin from hextech crafting. It's pretty cool, even if the splash art is a bit old and awkward. :p

They were great, for kids... and laughs, and learning good morals... Not for being bad ass. There was maybe one slightly bad assish cartoon later on, but even then it was pretty "for kids."

It's fine for him to have a humorous skin (like lumberjack), but to make his legendary skin one seems like a waste. It also doesn't even match the rest of the mecha line at all. Tristana, Rumble, and Mundo were already humorous characters. Cho'Gath was at least a little humorous (though dark in his humor) and I think his Gentleman skin while funny is actually still kind of bad ass AND we have Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath for a more serious legendary. Same goes for Darius in regards to him still being bad ass while being funny. Darius' outfit is still the Noxian black and red, he still feels like a murderous bully. It's also a skin I would never buy even if I mained Darius, I much prefer his chroma pack and a few of his other skins. I hate Brolaf and wish that skin were deleted, it's annoying as hell (all too fitting for the stereotype it's mocking).

And the worst thing of all, this new Sion skin isn't even funny or cute, it's just ugly and "lets do cartoony Transformers." I adore some of the very non bad ass skins in the game, such as Winter Wonder Lulu (possibly the cutest thing in League). WW Lulu does its job and does it well. Mecha Sion feels like an attempt to be bad ass ruined by a desire to tie it to Transformers.

To be fair one should actually expect sillier skins to be higher tiered. Sion is "a bad ass, undead, killing machine" as you say, legendary Skins generally reimagine a character and to make Sion silly you need to change looks, animations, vo, etc... Changes like that require a lot more work, so they will be the more expensive stuff.

Also reimagine doesn't have to mean they stray away from their core feeling as you can see in such examples as Dragon Trainer Tristana, Omega Squad Teemo, Infernal Nasus, Blackfrost Anivia, Aether Wing Kayle, Blood Lord Vladimir and so on and so on including all 3 ultimate skins as well.

You're agreeing with me that this Sion skin is at least a little silly. I don't think anyone is trying to say it isn't. My point is that I am sick of silly skins, I want some kick ass skins to take to the field of battle.

Hey Katey,

I really really appreciate having a new sion skin be on the legendary level, all the new particle effects, his shield, his ultimate (oh god the ultimate is amazing) his emotes, alll are sooo gooooood and crisp.

However, I only have 2 issues with this skin. The first is probably a symptom of what Nefas says, but Mecha Sion seems to me like he is slightly smaller than his base model. I don't know if it's the legs causing this, and the resulting posture of being hunched. It just dampens the huge mecha affect. His Splash looks absolutely awesome, a towering hulk of metal and steel, but in game (on pbe where i tried him, he looks small). Lets say for a second that in reality, Mecha Sion is the same size as Normal Sion. This means that his posture / legs are creating this effect. It would be nice if this could be remedied.

The second issue I have with the skin is that his E seems underwhelming. perhaps if it hit a minion, the bluish laser could travel the whole distance, or when it impacts, it could create some sort of shock wave?

But yea, everything else i feel sion really hit the mark and I am so glad that sion got a new skin after so long :)

First off, thanks for leaving feedback (especially this early)!

Mecha Zero Sion was actually wayyyy bigger than base Sion in development, and we actually scaled him down by ~5% to better align the two.

I really love this skin and am very excited for it! I'm not dissatisfied with the palette itself but I feel like the brightness of the orange makes the big guy feel too "new". The name and the implied lore seems to suggest that he was some kind of prototype that was deemed unstable (probably something to do with wanting to destroy humanity) and locked away in a manner that mirrors regular Sion's rebirth and subsequent imprisonment in his tomb (good job on that by the way). So, you'd expect his paint job and such to reflect that. There are some minor chips and whatnot but due to how small the models are when you're actually in game it's hard to notice! I think more edge wear and such on his texture could take this skin from amazing and make it perfect Sion

the only problem i have with mech sion is that they left all of his base/attack animations which look too organic for a mech and just looks awkward to me. example would be his idle animation slowing moving up and down, his attacks having the kind of slingshot animation when he punches or side swipes with his axe, his shoulder bash against the tower also looks a bit off the way he bonces off. his axe swing into the turret is the only one that looks right to me, but his biggest problem has to be his passive. parts of his body that aren't supposed to bend(since they are metal, and not flesh) is very obvious and doesn't fit the skin at all imo. this is probably something to big to change at this point, but it's gonna keep me personally from buying the skin.
