Are any actually good fanfictions about the lore?

Because most of them seem to either be set in the old canon or are cringy ship/crack fics

You would be far more likely to get responses in the Concepts & Creations board, I suspect, but if you're interested in flash fiction (very short) there were two unofficial competitions I ran a few years ago that had some pretty good entries!

Tall Tales of Bilgewater (set in the aftermath of Burning Tides): https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/fancreations/5AiMAFN0-fan-fic-micro-competition-tall-tales-of-bilgewater

The Last Shuriman Sunset (regarding the fall of Shurima): https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/GGYEUcJc-fan-fic-micro-competition-the-last-shuriman-sunset

At this point lore that was released last year has been retconned to be "old canon," so it might be difficult to find fan fics that will be viably up to date.

My friend writes some good stuff. I wouldn't say its 100% canon to the lore, but its an interesting read nonetheless.

Personal opinion here but there's an incredibly good Ekko story on fanfiction.net called Tragedy and Time if you want to track it down. In general that site does have a lot of good stories on it if you can sort through all the not that great ones.

We used to have a game on the old forums where someone would come up with random scenarios for champions and we as a community would decide what they would do to keep the story moving forward. Kinda like an RPG. It was based on the old lore too so it incluided summoners.

It was called Into the rift IRRC
