Jayce and Viktor's Reactions

I just noticed a difference between Jayce and Viktor when a young boy comes to their lab. Jayce acts like a dick and treats the kid who idolizes him like some kind of distraction (granted, he knew he was about to be attacked) while Viktor treated the scared kid kindly and comforted him. Viktor let the kid watch him work and even helped him out with the bullies when he had no reason to even open the door. It shows that Viktor truly wants to help Zaun and isn't the one-dimensional bad guy that he used to be.

Yeah, I thought it was great that big, bad Viktor is better with kids than Jacye. It also emphasized to me how much further Viktor's character is developed also. He's been through his primary motivating struggle and knows what he's after and how he's going to achieve it - by convincing people that he's right one person at a time.

Viktor is just the best guy and I want to give him a hug.

The lack of empathy is Jayce's main flaw. He fails to understand how other human beings feel because he's too full of himself and almost completely uninterested in them. The only time he manages to break free from his own little world is when someone challenges the image he has of himself (i.e., the little girl reminding him that he should have dodged the attack, if he knew that it was coming).

I find it ironic that the guy who wants to eliminate the errors of human emotion is the most empathetic, while the one who opposes him cannot interact with humans well.

I think it could also be because he basically killed of huge parts of his emotions, so there is no way he could have been arrogant or something similar. On the other Hand, even before he machinized parts of him he was down with the People, like, emergency in Zaun, he instantly goes down in the dirt to help the People, whereas Jayce would have been like why should I care for them, not my fault ffs.

While Viktor did help the kid out, it's not like Viktor got nothing out of it. He used the boy as an experiment of his anti-fear device to see how people would react under its influence. Viktor arguably benefited just as much from the boy as the boy did from him.
