I have no issue with the grim and gritty ones, mind you. But I do love the funny and wacky ones slightly more. And unlike the last one, who had a personality as beige as the rocks she throws, these two look like a stitch.
Can't wait to play them.

I know right? This guy reminds me so much of Buck from Ice Age 3 and Skaarl is just a goofy derpy bird fish lizard thing. Only thing that holds me back atm is not knowing their gameplay, but i'm 99% sure that will be a blast too. Hopefully this guy has some funny quotes and taunts too. Imagine him having a Rengar on his team and if Rengar stands next to him and he taunts he just says "Don't talk to me or my son ever again.". Or Skaarl can also make some derpy sounds kinda like Willump, but hopefully not quite as often.
Next champion is a yordle that rides a fish. With legs. Have fun.

I agree. I think of League lore as fundamentally kind of lighthearted, or at least a bit on the cartoony side. Lately, Riot's been doing too much uber-serious grimdark stuff. And sure, serious stories can work just fine! But it's hard to escape the underlying reality that League's a pretty derpy setting, with a crazy mixture of fantasy/sci-fi cliches all thrown in together. That's not an insult. Far from it; I think it's a lot of fun.
Still, for example, I definitely preferred "YAR HAR HAR SHIVER ME TIMBERS!" Gangplank to the current version. When I saw Riot say something like, "We wanted him to be more like a REAL pirate than a silly stereotype", I was thinking, "wait, what? A real pirate? Are you sure that's what you want to go for here? In your video game with dragons and yordles and cupcake traps, you want to seriously address the issue of piracy?"
To their credit, I think they mostly made the new Gangplank work. But like OP, I'm happy to see that they're mixing in some un-selfconscious silliness. It's part of what makes League League.

I was hoping it would be this, and I haven't every been anymore excited for a champion to be released.
I like it, but I kinda wish there were more lighthearted champs that aren't Yordles. Yordles seem to be the only excuse they have to do goofy champs these days.
Also, $10 that his starting skin is a Dragon Tamer skin.
Hopefully he won't have an annoying voice line he can trigger with a spe- SHUT THE FUCK UP TALIYAH I WILL NOT! THROW! ANOTHER! ROCK!!!!!
