How "Adult" Should League Lore Be?

This thought just crossed my mind I figured it was an interesting question. For example, I myself am fine with some detailed gore if it's to show something like how brutally a champion kills but wouldn't like if more time was given to describing the blood than the characters for the sake of making it more "mature". Similarly, I'm not completely against the idea of a little brief nudity or even sexual actions in lore (for instance, I felt it's short inclusion in the _Blood of Noxus _ comic helped strengthen the romance between Darius and Quill in the lake flashback, making their fallout that much more tragic) but think that there aren't a lot of times were it would really add anything to a champion's storyline aside from fan service (the only one I can think of off the top of my head is maybe Ahri).

IMO, regarding maturity? Your ESRB/MPAA rating generally has nothing to do with it.

You can make a deep and interesting story without a drop of blood being spilled, naughty bits flopping out, or harsh language. It's the kind of message you're trying to get across that matters. Of course, you can include all that, and it sometimes also makes a great story or enhances one. The hard part is that just tossing random profanities or brutal deaths in where the atmosphere doesn't support them doesn't make your story any more "mature", it just makes it sillier.

PG13... I think that's what LoL is rated. So I assume no identified mature content like nudes & gory images like organs & scenes of tortures, maybe at best just subtle hints for those.

I think it's fine as it is. There is quite a bit of dark and mature lore, not to mention all the subtle sexuality going on with so many female champions.

It should be very adult oriented. Like extremely detailed about how me and Morgana would treat Kayle as our pet.

It's interesting to note how mature some of the lore already is. The villain in Leona's short story is implied to be a rapist. Thresh kills a man by tearing open his ribcage. Urgot's meatgrinder exists, and we know he uses it. Some of the deaths in Shadow and Fortune were particularly horrid. I don't think League needs to be more mature, because it is fairly mature already, if only by implication.

A lot of writers equate shock-value and excess violence/sex/gore to maturity. I think it's hard for any writer to do those adult themes tastefully - and given that so much modern media needs to be direct it becomes hard to give it the nuance that makes a lot of great works stand out.

There's an infamous scene in The Killing Joke movie with Batgirl that comes to mind. Just because they could do it didn't make it better.

Then again, 90% of the new lore stuff is just generic tragedy 'oh noes somebody died!'-tier stuff. It's hard to care.
