So why is Noxus expanding?

As in, all the various world empires over the years have had reasons (or at least justifications) for being expansionist.

Typically it was economical. Conquering folks and having them give you tribute enriched the conquering nation. Barring that, some just wanted to secure trade networks and keep a lid on conflict so commerce could do its thing relatively unharassed. And still others wanted territory under their control to exploit the resources their themselves.

Others expanded for ideological reasons. They wanted to spread a religion or creed and didn't mind stabbing some folks to make it happen.

And some just had a grandiose vision of ruling the whole world.

So what is it?

Why does Noxus fight?

Economics. Noxus Prime is basically in a desert/wasteland, which isn’t great for food. So instead of being raiders (because cultures based only on raiding don’t last) they became conquerors for trade routes and new territories.

At least that’s my interpretation.

Nationalist pride will also keep noxus from destroying itself. So long as there is another enemy it won't turn on and cannibalize itself from all of it's diversity.

I have a hunch it's economical, but also grandiose visions of world domination.

To spread democracy and find oil.

I think that it was confirmed at one point that the noxian lands are actually not that rich in resources,so Noxus counters this by conquering more and more.

There is also the fact that Swains new lore mentions him preparing to fight a great evil,so he likely wants to make the noxian army as strong and powerful as possible.
