Riot did such a great job of giving Noxus and Zaun more depth than 'evil dudes on skull mountain' and 'evil mad scientists'. It would be a shame if the Void were left similarly one dimensional.
The big question is: Does the void even have a goal? They might be just a bunch of monstrous creatures that do their own thing,with this bioforges mentioned on the universe page being just the way the voidcreatures reproduces.
I really hope there isn't. We already have a great deal of grey area villains, but a straight up lovecraftian dimension of devouring entitites shouldn't be concerned with human morality. "Eating" can take as many forms as they need.
All they need is to keep following the theme, and occasionally insert a glimpse of cosmic proportions, like in Sol's Lore. Having the Void follow a complex set of motivations would ruin part of the appeal of the entire faction, in my eyes at least.
The Void is a problem for not just Runeterra, but for the entire Universe. Shadow Isles is a low level threat compared to that (similar to how the Lich King was a threath once, but then a bigger one risen in the form of the Legion, which are controlled by the VOID Lords.....Enemies of the Dark and Unknown depths of the Eldrich are the ultimate threat to any setting)
In my opinion, the void and the voidborn not having a goal (other than to consume everything) just makes them all the more horrifying.
The Void isn't a political faction like Zaun or Noxus, it's a sort of alien parallel world. They aren't very comparible.
From what we know of the Void so far, most of its denizens have very self-interested goals. Some that easily conflict with one another. For instance, I highly doubt that Vel'koz approves of Kog'Maw or Rek'Sai's ambitions.
At best the Void might band together to assimilate Runeterra into the Void but beyond that goal they don't seem to share similar interests

I think that every void being is instilled with the desire to better themselves in some way. For example vel koz and kog just want to learn everything they can. Kha zix wants to be the perfect predator. I guess cho just wants to be big. Rek sai has already achieved her goal i guess. So I think void beings are trying to improve themselves the only way they can which is by destroying things. So maybe the void invasion is happening in order for them to continue improving. But thats just my guess.
The Void is the other. The outsiders from Dresden. The Spawn of the Elder gods from the C'thulu Mythos, The tyranids from 40k, The Burning legion from WoW, The White Walkers from game of thrones. They are alien and not of this world and will destroy us all not out of malice but simply because it is what they do.
I'd actually rather it just be Nom all the things.
Pretty clear things have already been said, here's my two cents :
The Void creatures ( or precisely sentient creatures ) are about growth.

And Kog'Maw is in a bit of a weird spot, but Consume and Learn seem to be fitting.
So if we just keep this "Growth" instinct, they don't really need more. But why would they develop the use of language which is not necessary, expect for Vel'Koz in his thirst for knowledge.
So there is already something more than "Nom everything" but i would like some deeper understanding of the Void.
I really hope some new intelligent void creatures to see if this logic is correct.
Well, no. That's really just Kog'maw's motivation.
Why can't it just be Nom all the things? It's a perfectly good starting point! Just have to add some interesting layers on top of that.
But the motive of NOM ALL THE THINGS really fits well with koggy's lore D: ######I really do want to see that lore expanded on though
Vel'Koz's lore is that he's a void mage out to learn things. So we know there's more to the Void than 'nom all the things'.
From what little information we have received, the most recent additions in particular, I am getting a distinct War Against the Chtorr/Phyrexian vibe. The Void is a living entity that spreads itself via direct contact and the actions of the Voidborn, whom are autonomous, engineered organisms.
an infinite realm of unfettered creation, tortured landscapes of crazed organic machinery, magical weapon-looms and mountainous flesh-forges.
We do not have an explicit, unifying motivation for the Voidborn, but their actions all follow a predictable pattern: consume, convert, compound. Given that they were created with a specific purpose in mind, that being war, it is possible that an overarching goal is planted within their consciousness, but it is buried so deeply it hardly registers as anything more than instinct. Nothing is directly telling them what to do, but an underlying need pushes them to act in a way that is natural to them.
