Among other things a woman sold her soul to a giant spider and now uses her boobs to lure people into its web where it can feast upon their horny, horny innards. At least people get something out of kalista's bargain. Morde just straight up steals souls, same with thresh, and elise just cock teases and then feeds you to her giant spider god.
All that aside, this game has always had dark twists. Teemo is a sociopath, says so right in his lore, lol.

Rather than keep going, in summary, The Shadow Isles' undeath does NOT return you with your consciousness intact (except, perhaps, for Karthus?) - it returns you as a almost an incarnation of your life.

Kalista is the very personification of vengeance. The reason we dont know crap about her origins is because Riot doesnt care.

Overall it is pretty dark,but some people would sell their soul for revenge,especially if they are about to die anyway or know they don't have the means to take revenge on their own.

Really depends on who you are, who they are, and what they did.
